If you’ve stopped by the site before today, I’m sure you’re aware of my addiction and adoration for David Horvath’s Uglydolls. I’ve always said the Dunny and Tokidoki Moofia blindboxes were my gateway into this world, but it’s quite possible (if you consider the Uglydolls to be a ‘designer toy’– I only pose the question because I remember DH asking himself this question) that I’d been a part of the scene before I was even aware there was a scene.

Just spotted on David Horvath’s twitter, GID IceBats? Icebat is one of my all time favorite characters, it’s the wings– they’re HOT! =) As I’ve noted many times before, I’m addicted to Uglydolls and David Horvath just combined my love for Uglydolls, with the Mr.’s love for GID to create a perfect harmony! I wonder if Toy2R produced these, since they handled Turtle’s GID release. Either way– there will be 6 colorways available and they’re going to debut during SDCC. Now the only question left to answer is, who’s sending me a set because I can’t make it out there for SDCC? Help, please. =(

Ah, David Ugly (I have officially re-named him) has just dropped the word that the Uglydoll action figures will definitely be available for NYCC. It was rumored, or hoped better said, that they would be available for Uglycon which took place last Saturday, but it seems they just weren’t ready. That’s alright though, because I definitely plan on attending this years NYCC and I WILL get my hands on this set. They’re oodles of cuteness.
Hey, are any of you attending NYCC this year? Let me know, we’ll arrange a meet-up or something.

My Mr. is still snoozing, but I’m sitting here about to head out to Uglycon at GRNY. I’m late!! The event started at noon, but I’m hoping there really are no lines. Today’s goal, get David Horvath to sketch in my sketch book– better known as, I want to steal his soul. =) I clearly should’ve posted this earlier in the week so people would know ahead of time, but if you’re just finding out now, no worries, you’ve got time. Get there before 3pm though, that’s when the house is going to get really packed. I’ll bring pictures later.

Enter to WIN Chuckanuka
Alright peeps, I haven’t had a giveaway in a long time. Well, I had one recently, but my goal for the year was to have at least one giveaway a month. Times got rough and I was forced to cut that idea, which made me really sad because I truly love spreading the joy that free things bring. =)
Anyway, since I couldn’t commit to 1 giveaway a month, I have decided to giveaway 1 thing a week until the holidays arrive. I respect all holidays here: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus and even those who just want something free and have no ties to any holiday. What do you have to do to win the Ice Lodge Chuckanuka? Leave a comment below, just one or you’ll be disqualified. On Sunday December 7th I’ll pick a random winner and mail it out. Remember: enter a valid email address when commenting so I can get your snail-mail.
*This Giveaway is over… Check back soon for even more chance to win great stuff!

I mean it… this really is the ugliest costume in the world– because it’s UGLY, as in, UGLYDOLL!! Flickr buddy swallowfield recently shared a photo of her home made Uglydoll costume that she made from scratch. Based on the color and look, it looks as though they created Jeero Babo — but it may be someone else. I LOVE it. I’ve officially declared most (if not all) David Horvath products to be my favorite toys. If only I could have this, but I swore I wouldn’t steal from 9yo anymore. =D For more details and step-by-step, click the link.

I want to start this post by sharing an anecdote. In September I will begin my full-time job as a dean of students. I am still in undergraduate school and chose to take the job because I love working with youth. When June came along, I was questioning whether or not to get a summer job. I still technically wasn’t on the DOE budget, so I wasn’t going to get summer pay. Suddenly, I was presented with a stack of checks, which solidified my decision to not work for 2 months and be a bum until my very hectic schedule took over (full-time work, school and part-time blogging). I thought it was a great decision, until– SDCC came around.
Originally, I was supposed to attend SDCC this year. I have family in San Diego so I didn’t have to worry about room and board. But, 3 very important electronic equipments broke down and I canceled my trip. Now, as exclusives surface still on a daily basis, my heart is shredding into little pieces. The latest? This year’s exclusive Ice Bat. He’s only $20 and is limited to 400, I hope that enough are left for me to purchase when I start working again. Hit the jump to see the news David has just unleashed.

It occured to me that I wanted to post about Kaiju Babo, and then I suddenly wanted to post about the new shirts at Giant Robot– so I decided to put some things David Horvath in one post. I am a HUGE fan of David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim. I can’t help but love their overly simplistic, but super cute little monsters. With them, I experience being able to draw their popular characters without feeling like I missed the magic.

So, to the first matter at hand. I’ve wanted to own most of DH’s Kaiju Uglies… and the fact that I don’t understand the foreign language is holding me back. A friend of mine explained the process, but I keep thinking I’m going to frak up. Apparently, you have to email them what you’re interested in along with address and they request a paypal payment? Umm [source] is that correct? Well, if they’re not sold out– I WANT KAIJU BABO!!!
At first I was thrown off by the revelation of a cookie tail. The cookie part was okay, I mean, who doesn’t LOVE cookies?!! I’ll send cookie monster on you. It was explained that Babo lives in an alternate universe where a tail is necessary. So cool! Anyway, he’s set to come out later this month, so keep your eyes peeled.
Not only did DH release news of his newest Kaiju addition, but apparently, new t-shirts have been shipped too! Woo hoo! My favorite two are above, but I am especially loving the “I Quit!” shirt. How awesome is that? The shirts are about $22 a pop and you can check Giant Robot to get it.

It’s here! If you’re a fan of the Uglydolls, then I’m sure you must own some of their stationery too, right? If you don’t, Babo’s journal was just released and is available on Amazon for $12.11 [it's also available on the Uglydoll website for $14.95]
I know for a fact that I’ll never write in any of my Uglydoll books, but their covers are so soft that I must have them. Go pick him up, Babo’s a great friend and I’m sure he’ll do a good job of keeping your secrets a secret. You can click on the image to be re-directed to his purchase page.
