GID Koguma w/ all Black Prototype
MyPlasticHeart really did have the hottest offers at this year NYCC. The hottest of them all, in my opinion of course, was the GID Koguma brought to you by TokyoPlastic. I joined the designer toy network too late to obtain the original 3″ geishas that TokyoPlastic released in 2005[?]– and though now, I do own one of the three 3″ geishas, I’m determined to complete my TP collection. This latest addition to an already stellar line up, really is one of the most exciting for me. The baby Koguma’s are already very cute in their oversized speaker chairs being lazy bums– and now, he has a hunter’s face and GID action. Now, MPHlabs x TokyoPlastic, what’s next? I want more!!
I cannot believe that NYCC is less than a month away. I’ve officially obtained my official “press pass” and unless my jury duty carries over through the whole week, it means I’ll be there Friday morning/noon when doors open. My very first post about the goodies of NYCC will focus on MPH’s latest news– a GID Koguma. You may remember Koguma from TokyoPlastic’s 3D renditions of characters from their (what I consider to be infamous) flash video.
I meant to post about this last week, but as always, that morning job drains me of all my energy. Well, the morning job and my obsession for L4D are what keeping me from posting on a regular basis, but I’ll get back into the habit. I promise. =) In the meantime, if you’re a GID lover like my MR., enjoy. It seems he’ll be released during NYCC which takes place February 6-8th. See you there!
I know this is old, as the giveaway began the week of Thanksgiving, but it’ll continue through Christmas Eve. A while back MyPlasticHeart sposored a giveaway on my site and a lucky winner in Italy was able to get his hands on their Koguma prototype. If you want to take another stab at it, head on over to their site and try your luck.
We all know, from past posts with anything regarding TokyoPlastic [refer to these posts], that I love TokyoPlastic. All aspects of the duo make me happy; the people are awesome gents, their vinyl toys are simple yet amazing, and their flash videos seriously leave my eyes wanting more. Any time there are news or rumors of any TokyoPlastic figure, I suddenly find myself on their site all over again watching all of their works all over again. This time, I thought I’d take a different approach and show you the characters I want to be brought to life in 3D form so I can add them to my collection.
Let’s start with the fella above who’s part of Drum Machine’s opening sequence. He looks similar to baby koguma in body and shape, except this guy has headphones and should come equipped with drums. I acknowledge the fact that I’ll most likely never attain a black or red 4″ geisha, which came with a drum/speaker, therefore, I’m trying to get a set any way I can. Besides, when you see the little guy playing the drum, the expression on his face is filled with so much effort. Andy, Sam, please take note of this. Danke! Hit the jump to see more characters.
I’ve been waiting for the release of this little guy (and his super comfy speaker chair) since a little before NYCC, when I got the pleasure of seeing and holding it. Aren’t you jealous? I love tokyoplastic, will always be in love with their animations (Drum Machine is #1).
The little lazy bum pictured above is going to make his way to San Diego next week, when ToyQube (#4837)releases a limited amount of them. Be there ASAP to get your own, or be patient and wait for September. No word on the exact price yet, but remember, this will make a GREAT addition to your TokyoPlastic Geishas.
And finally, news of this duo is unleashed to the blog-o-sphere. What’s this mean? Loads of people just blew their top off as tokyoplastic’s upcoming geisha (SDCC exclusive) will be adorned with Simone Legno’s tokidoki art!! Oh snaps. I love both artists. The geisha is one of my favorite platforms and well, tokidoki has always been kawaii goodness. This exclusive makes up a lot of my dissapointment from his dunny (that I’ll still most likely get).
There’s no official word on how many are being released, though the latest releases have ranged between 60(black geisha)-200(yellow geisha). It’ll also stand 4″ tall and will cost between $40-$50 bucks. Nice!!!
Layziechino!
Layziechino, congratulations on winning the solid black baby koguma that My Plastic Heart has so kindly donated. I’ll be contacting you very soon by email to get your snail mail information. According to your comment, you live in Holland, so even more kudos to you. Baby koguma has a long trip ahead of him.
To all those who participated, I honestly wish I had more babies to give away, but I don’t. I was prepared for a few broken hearts, but definitely not 84!! I’m so sorry. Thanks for participating though.

And so it continues, the NYCC wrap up. I had the pleasure of hanging out with the MPH crew all weekend (they roll deep) and seeing all the things they are planning on releasing this year. Currently, I have a giveaway for one of the Koguma Babies that will be released later this year, the solid black koguma is ??? of 150. Well, the full piece is above, Koguma’s will be released with a totally cozy speaker swivel chair. I wish I could lay on a chair, naked with my stuff all out there. His little pee-pee is cute as a button.

In addition to the TokyoPlastic/MPHlabs Koguma prototype, MPH also unleashed their A-Type prototype. I love the figure. Great way of displaying their “plastic heart”. The piece also manages to stay true to Andrew Bell’s style. I didn’t know he was the creator at first, and ignoring the tab that informs you of such, you could tell from the leg/foot style that this was something Andrew dished out. The photo above show’s a snippet of Julie’s design for the current WIP.

MPH has teamed up with TokyoPlastic to unleash Koguma onto the scene. Want a chance to get baby Koguma before anyone else? Then leave a comment! It’s as simple as that. ONE COMMENT PER PERSON! If people are found to be commenting multiple times be it with the same or separate email accounts, all entries will be void. I have a feeling that people are going to want him… so please spare me the headache and dissapointment of having to kick someone out of the contest. Only one Koguma will be rewarded. Hit the jump for more.
