There are TONS of SPOILERS!!
I’m finally catching up on Dexter Season 4 and I wanted to share a few thoughts.
I’ll start off with the following question: Is anyone else feeling anxious when watching Dexter? I’ll explain the reason for the question; since the beginning of the show, we’ve come to know and understand Dexter Morgan as a man of clean and “safe” ritual. Now, with this family of his, and the countless nail-biters and his new-Dad behaviors, I keep feeling anxious for him. Anyone else feeling the same?

And so, it is here! The revised trailer for Dollhouse, Joss Whedon’s upcoming television show (located after the jump). Don’t know who Joss Whedon is? I’m sure you do, you just didn’t realize he’s the man responsible for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), Angel and Firely!! I am extremely excited to hear that he is returning to the small screen, and am reluctantly celebrating the news as past experience with his shows= great shows getting canceled by stoopid television networks.
So what’s Dollhouse going to be about? Whedon explains:
“Dollhouse is a suspense drama about a girl who can have any personality except her own.” So it’s part Alias and part Quantum Leap, “because Echo is literally changing who she is,” he continues. “She gets into people’s lives a little bit.”
I’m interested to see how the plot unfolds. So far, according to dollverse.com, they have already planned 13 episodes and hope to continue strong to 22 episodes for a full season. The season, which is to begin January 2009, will also have longer episodes than normal. If you’re a “regular” non-tivo/dvr watcher, you know how annoying it is to waste 18 minutes worth of an hour on commercials. It seems that FOX plans on expanding to 50 minutes (therefore, 10 minutes of commercials) instead of the normal 42 minutes. This is great minutes, I suppose if FOX end up canning it, at least I’ll get 8 more minutes worth of goodness per episode.
Finally, the additional excitement for the show comes from the people they have cast so far. Eliza Dushku (Faith from BtVS) will play the role of Echo, one of the “dolls”, and Helo from Battlestar Galactica (Tahmoh Penikett) is going to be the obsessed FBI agent who’s trying to uncover this organization!! I’m glad Helo’s got a job lined up after this year’s BSG season finale. *cries* Also, though not in the trailer Amy Acker (aka Winifred Burkle from Angel) is also said to be in the show. I know for sure that Dushku and Penikett are going to be series regulars. Yay for them. If you want to follow the progress, you can subscribe to Dollverse for all the Dollhouse news. Now hit the jump for the latest (revamped) trailer.

Totally late on this, I know. But I am not announcing the return of Dexter, I am simply writing to show off. =) This previous Sunday was the premier of the second season of DEXTER. Yay for the world. He, Michael Hall aka Dexter, really is my favorite serial killer. This week’s episode is currently vague in my mind, it has a lot to do with I saw both the 1st and 2nd episodes about a month ago. I know, you all hate me! What did happen in the last episode, I believe the show reached a teeth clenching climax. How so? Well, Dexter’s under-the-sea graveyard has been discovered! I can’t wait for the rest of the season to develop. I should admit that my impressions of both episode 1 and 2 was exciting, but I’m worried about the ball of emotions they’re turning Dexter into. He doesn’t feel! He’s a robot remember, unless of course, he’s killing people. We shall see what happens. Let me know what you think. Remember the show is on Sundays at 10pm.

So, I have watched the episode. I should tell you all that I am writing from a highly biased point of view; like I mentioned in the previous post– I love both Blake Lively and Kristin Bell, so I think this affects my feelings towards the show. Plus!! Knowing people in the “business” gets me loads of treats, so I bring you a picture of their goody bag.

Anyway, on to my highly biased opinion. I live in NYC and granted I am not part of the “socialite” life, but the show almost made NY seem like it was the LA scene. I like the way the show starts, with the narration of the Gossip Girl. She’s narrating the arrival of Serena (Lively) and someone (or everyone) has either tuned in to her site or received a text because the crowd new immediately– oh how technology helps spread the news. The relationship between the characters is established right away, and I suppose the progression of time is okay. It is only the first episode though, so who knows how well it will keep up. I did have a couple of troubles and they are the following:
- Since when are minors allowed to drink in NYC? I understand you can sneak into bars or use a fake ID, but clearly there are a couple bar scenes and dozens of minors drinking. What? Do socialites not get carded?
- Since when is it okay to pimp your son? I am referring to the scene where Nate’s father asks him to stay with his girlfriend (Blair) until he can secure a contract with her mother’s new clothing line.
- Whoever this gossip girl is, why is everyone tuning in to her blog? And what the hell– I don’t think I know of a single school that is completely hooked up to ONE site for their source of information. Serena walks into the party and people are checking their phones immediately.
I believe for now, that is all I want to write about the show. Whether I’ll continue watching or not, who knows. I shall let you know, but I doubt I’d post my opinion every week.
P.S. If you want to check out pics of their premier party, check the site: [PHOTOS]

Today is the series premier of Gossip Girl:

Gossip Girl revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York’s Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions whilst dealing with sex, drugs, and other teenage issues. Featuring an ensemble cast, the series mainly centers around the lives of former best friends, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), and their shared romantic interest, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). As outsiders looking in, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) do not run in the same social or financial circles as their peers but are drawn into their lives nonetheless. The series is narrated by a seemingly omniscient character, “Gossip Girl” (voiced by Kristen Bell), who runs a blog about her fellow Upper East Siders — consequently stirring the pot and creating potential rivalries in this exclusive and vicious circle of friends. Does anyone know why I’m going to watch the season premier? There are two reasons. One, I have a huge crush on Blake Lively [most recognized by her role as sexiest soccer player in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants], who by the way is going to be in next year’s Cloverfield; a complete mystery movie to the world about people in NYC trying to survive a monster attack.
The other reason? Kristen Bell, currently number one blonde actress in my heart, is going to be the voice of the Gossip Girl. How I love her so. I shall update the world on my thoughts of the first episode. I’m checking for both these two ladies.

Last summer, while I was getting my constant fix for trash TV from both MTV and VH1; Alltel wireless kept flashing commercials of some world series event. To be quite honest it was getting me completely annoyed. I didn’t want anymore Alltel to be pushed on me; but then I watched. I became intrigued, and then I became a World Series of Pop Culture addict. Its a pop culture trivia game (brought to you my alltel) on VH1 hosted by Pat Kiernan (also known as the NY1 guy). He so rocks, and he makes an awesome game host. Anyways, the second Pop Culture series is starting July 9th at 9pm, watch it and enjoy. Or DVR it and enjoy later. I can’t wait!
So while on Flickr, I was searching for my random photo of the week that I update on my myspace page. I’ve been on a ROBOTS rule my life addiction, and the fact that the Mr. got my the “Broken Heart Robot” toy has added to my current addiction. Yay! Anyway, I ran into Marvin the Depressed robot from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and decided he was my photo of the week, but I was curious to see the rest of the photos with that tag… and then I read this:
This Whole Cylon Occupation Thing Is Starting To Piss Us Off!
I thought that was hilarious, and here’s the image that popped up:

(I couldn’t put the original photo b/c the author doesn’t want to share, go here to see it: Cylon Pic)
Then the author has this additional link, you need to see it, it’s hilarious: Battlestar Galactica Party

If you’re an HBO fan you might like to know that Big Love is back on the air, the new season is premiering tonight! Don’t have any idea what the show is about? It’s about a greedy man with three wives, I kid. Only about the greedy part, it focuses on a family of polygamists. There is the main character and his three wives. Obviously in America bigamy/polygamy is a no-no, which is what makes this show very interesting to me. At first, I couldn’t get beyond the idea that there was a show about a man with three wives, but I must say this show has really caught my eye. I especially like the character development of Margene, she’s the third wife and is having the most trouble accepting how Americans view her family. Anyway, the new schedule is every Monday at 9pm now, let me know what you thing. Got to go now, it’s about to start. Yipee!
