Thanks to VPEast, the Mr. and I were made aware of a show in Connecticut, that included Sket-One. I’m sure you’ve noticed from past posts, that I’m a big fan of the artist, so the Mr. and I didn’t hesitate to take the MetroNorth out there– it was also cheap enough. Check out more pics and info after the jump.

Unboxing Sket-One’s GID Buckeye Rot

The first time I encountered Sket’s Buckeye Rot was actually during NYCC. The figure was released at MPH’s booth, where they had Sket on hand on Saturday for a signing. At the time, I was all over the place, as I typically am whenever big events like these take place in the city. There are so many artists who come into town, that I tend to lose my mind due to the excitement.

One of my friends mentioned Sket’s Buckeye Rot and how impressed he was with the packaging. At first I was confused because I let the release slip my mind, but I immediately headed straight to MPHs booth to see this packaging. My friend was dead on.

I’ve taken an interest in UNBOXING, therefore, hit the jump to check out a video of me unboxing Sket’s Buckeye, along with a photo gallery and some more information about the figure. Give me feedback, constructive please– that’ll help me make the episodes better. =)

Sket dropped me a line today of his upcoming show at Circa this Friday (May 9th). The show “Snake Eyes” will feature 8 new custom Dunnys and Munnys from Sket. He released a peek of one of his designs (hit the jump to see), and I like it. All of the pieces that will be on display are available for sale, not sure how much they’re going for though. I wish I was near Toronto to attend- if you’re attending, please share your pics.

Sket-One @ MPH, originally uploaded by saki-waki.

Oh snaps!!! Friday August 24th, 2007 was Sket-One’s Release Party over at My Plastic Heart, and it was awesome. Last week was my first toy show ever, refer to Toy Qube post, and this weeks show was even better. What was better?

Well, last week I had to travel a long and annoying trip to make it to Toy Qube; this week I only had to walk (cab) a couple of blocks to My Plastic Heart. It just so happens that the people responsible for providing my with my vinyl goods are right in my area. This is both bad and good, but I survive.

Anyway, I’m digressing; the other good thing about Sket’s release party is that I felt a lot more confident. What do I mean by this? I am one of those people who can instantly fall in love with a band/musician/artist and not know how they look or who they are. I also have a very bad memory, so that doesn’t help me at all. At last weeks release party, since it was my first one; I didn’t recognize half of the artists that were there. How embarrassing! Thanks to one of the Mr.’s co-worker’s girlfriend, she pointed out a good percentage of the people who were there. This, sadly enough, included Huck Gee, whose “Hello My Name is…” dunny is at the top of my favs list.

Also, Vincent and Vicky (I might have the spelling wrong); owners of My Plastic Heart; are super cool. Vincent introduced me to the artists and helped hook me up with some sketches. Oh snaps!! They are awesome people, and they have no idea how much I appreciate the help and the vinyls they provide me. heehee… *tear*

Sket was also pretty awesome. It turns out, I had also seen him at Toy Qube. o_O How horrible of me to not know it was him. He did a drawing for me, even though he’d burned his hand. When I asked what happened, he responded, “it happens.” [LOL] So cool. I could just be very “star struck” by all these artists. Funny enough, I don’t react this way with any Hollywood actors, at least not since I was 10 yrs old and met an actor from New York Undercover.

The show was awesome, I think I am going to purchase one of Sket’s Mixed Media prints… check out the rest of his prints over at MPH; they’ll be up for about a month. Hit the jump for more shots from the show.

I’d pay her to walk my duck

She’s one of my additions from the shopping spree at My Plastic Heart. She’s part of the Sket-Bots Series 1 blind boxes. Currently My Plastic Heart is sold out, but she runs for $8.99. I didn’t even know she came with a ducky when I first unpacked her, so pay attention to the contents in her box. She’s super cute!
