Hi! It seems like ages since I’ve posted and for once it has nothing to do with me being lazy. I went to Canada last week with my middle school and high school students to participate in a series of Basketball tournaments. My little ones lost, both male and female, but both Varsity teams won!! Then I got super sick, and I’ve been on bed-rest since Monday.
Today I spent the better half of my day securing my NYCC passes. It’s official, IHCS is officially “PRESS” status. Woohoo! Now it’s time to catch up. I’ll start with the two-faced Asia exclusive Hazel by Kathie Olivas. Hazel, though I don’t own her in any size, is one of my very favorite Scavengers. The release of Hazel in this colorway brings an additional joy to my life. The colorway is quite pleasing to the eyes, wouldn’t you agree?
She hasn’t been released yet, but if you’re interested in purchasing one for yourself (or me), you can go to gunnzo.com- the only location in the US who will be distributing the red colorway. They’re currently taking pre-orders for $90, so you better hurry, she’s limited to 500 pieces worldwide. I would buy one for myself right now, but fate always seems to screw me over when I want things the most, so I have to pass on this opportunity. =( It would’ve been the perfect birthday present to myself. Have you submitted your photo to October Toys’ contest? Don’t remember what it’s about? You seriously have to pay attention people. In order to get a chance to win the exclusive Dragon Con Aubrie, you need to post a photo of yourself with your Scavengers collection. I have a feeling I’m going to get disqualified, simply because I’m holding my KO dunny, which is technically NOT a Scavenger. If such is the case, then a couple of others will get eliminated too. Anyway, the above photo is my entry. Now head on over and submit your photo, NOW!

Hey!! Pay attention. Someone has been quite kick-ass and left a comment that contained news of a contest OctoberToys is having. What’s it involve? The ever so lovely and sophisticated Kathie Olivas’ exclusive Dragon Con Scavenger. How can you enter? All you’ve got to do is take a photo with your current collection of Scavengers. On September 24th, a winner will be picked and you could become the owner of a purple colorway of Aubrie (right?).
I’m totally entering this contest! I unfortunately got screwed over just a bit when it came to these figures (the person who was supposed to hold them for me forgot!)– so I’ve been trying to get my hands on anything I can get– which at this point means exclusives and the upcoming Series 2. BTW, if you have doubles of any– you should totally contact me and I can buy some off of you, please.
Anyway, make sure you make your way to October Toys and enter. Good Luck!! I hope I win, so my apologies for being part of the competition. =)

Well, I am quite grateful that MINDstyle will be producing a second series of Kathie’s Scavenger Children figures. I am in love with Kathie Olivas, I believe I profess my love for her every time I get a chance to write about her, and was delighted when her first series was announced. I unfortunately thought that the figures were being held for me, and they were gone when I went to collect. Woops! Clearly I was crushed, but thank the lords that there were SDCC exclusives which came along with the announcement of her second series.
So, what is in store for us with this series? Well, from the looks of it, more of her crazier designs like the squid girl pictured above(squid from Brandt) and I wants me a raygun!! Hit the jump to see more. [Via.]

Their official press release has arrived! More like TRE totally beat me to the punch line and posted about them. But it’s true, Kathie Olivas’ Scavengers have finally arrived. The release date has been set for June 20th with a SRP of $11.99– there is a need to complain though. When I first spoke to representatives at the company, they thought the packaging would most likely be open-window display. It seems, although the packaging is done really well, that window display is not the route they went [may be wrong since there aren't more detailed photos of the packaging]. That means, our wallets won’t be spared.
I had a couple comments/concerns about the information Mindstlye had on their site.
1. I like that they’ve placed so much priority into the packaging. I believe they went as far as saying: “The flip top gift box is closed by a magnet and comes with a slip cover. We’ve found collectors find the packaging equally as important, so we’ve made every effort to create something that is worth keeping.” I don’t think I can express how glad I am that they really focused on packaging because I’m one of those people. The kind of people who carefully and strategically open a box so the packaging will seem untouched. Yay!!
2. There’s a detailed list of apparently 13 production pieces that will have approx. 2000 pieces in production. But then there’s a whole other list of “exclusives” per shop/location. Do you know how much confusion this is bringing to my life? I want to own them all… now not only will I have to deal with blind boxes (if they are in fact blind) but I’ll have to deal with making connections in other cities in order to have them all in my possession. You can check out a lot more at MindStyle’s blog.
p.s. I’m not even sure this post makes any sense… I keep getting distracted from the post.
