One of the sweetest, and most charming news I received this week was the upcoming release of Shawnimals’ Ninjatown Zipper Pulls. Shawnimals teamed up with Squibbles Ink & Rotofugi, to deliver 16 designs based off the Ninjatown video game that was released October 2008.  Keep reading to check out all 16 designs, along with some packaging photos.

SDCC ‘09: Saki’s WANT List

Here is a very downscaled and highly edited list of the items I really want from SDCC. Thankfully, to a certain degree, due to the economy, there aren’t many releases this year. At the end of the post I’ll add up how much all of this would cost me if I was there.amandavisellsdcc_revealed-580x444

First on my list is Amanda Visell’s labbit. It retails for $50, and it turns out it’s 5″ tall, not 10″ like I originally believed. MUST HAVE!! I think her art translated very well on this shape and I am loving the tone of the wood.

sdcconosushi

Andrew Bell’s O-NO! Sushi is my second must. I’ve been a huge fan of his O-No! sticker/print for ages. Well, SDCC officially celebrates its release from 2d to 3D form. Yay!! Two colorways will be released, the Blue is the SDCC exclusive– the red one will be released later in the year. These are $30 each, and the Mr. wants one too.

big_sal

I posted about Big Sal– now, I’ll definitely be getting her. Thanks to a friend who is helping me out– I get to add Kathie Olivas and Brant Peters’ kaiju creation to my collection. If you’re going to pick this up, it’ll cost you $25 at the Super7 Booth and will be available on Thursday.

cosmic-pennie-sdcc

I haven’t been lucky lately with my hook-ups in regards to Kathie’s Scavengers. I have yet to complete my regular colorway collection– but Cosmic Pennie is one of my favorite characters in Series 2, and I’d really love to get it for my collection. These, like all other exclusive Scavengers, will run you $20 and will be available at ToyTokyo’s booth.

sddcc_2set

This latest set caught me by surprise. I didn’t realize that Mindstyle would be releasing another SDCC set– and this one contains a 3″ Two-Faced Hazel. I have yet to obtain any of the 3″ Hazels, and I would love this one to be my first. I wouldn’t mind having the other characters as I’m a bit of a fan of all the artists included in this set: Ron English, Kathie Olivas, Buff Monster, Doktor A and Brandt Peters. I’m also a HUGE fan of black and white figures and I sometimes believe, less color is better. This set costs $130 and will be available on Saturday from 1-3pm at Mindstyle’s booth I believe.

sdcctoynerd

Rotofugi along with FormulaWerks have been creating awesome t-shirts lately, and it seems that at this year’s SDCC, the shirt above will be unleashed. I want!! I heart toys and I’m a nerd, so I would wear the combination of the two words proudly. These shirts will be available on all days throughout the con and they’ll run you a mere $16. Thanks to SpankyStokes, I’ll have this in my hands after the con.

sdccthesisters

Last, but really not least– I would’ve loved to be at SDCC so I could meet Jhonen Vasquez and get hooked up with one of these sweet prints for Bioshock 2.

Jhonen will be signing at the 2K Games booth on Saturday July 25th from 2-4 PM at San Diego Comicon, and apparently there will be 500 of the prints available.

I’m guessing the prints are free since no price has been specified. If you’re a fan of his works, which I am, this is a must stop. Please take some pictures and share them with me. =)

The Total Cost: $301.00

They’ve arrived! 64Colors’ Marshall Mashumaro will finally be released in stores tomorrow and I can’t wait to pick some up next paycheck. =) The best part of the poster above? That little doggie! He looks like a gumdrop, I want, NOW!!

I’m not sure if Marshall is a Rotofugi exclusive, since 64Colors and Squibbles Ink worked with them– but as soon as I find out, I’ll update the post.

Twitter is becoming the hub of information for me. I’ll explain– Earlier in the day, Jeremiah Ketner posted about the upcoming show at Rotofugi on his twitter feed. I immediately visited his flickr, because that’s where the link sent me to, and spotted the flyer above.

Jeremiah Ketner, along with Julie West, are going to participate in a collaborative show in Rotofugi’s Gallery in Chicago. How jealous!! I know Jeremiah Ketner is from Chicago, but when am I going to get a chance to meet the man? Thankfully, I’ve already met Julie on numerous occassions or I would’ve had a fit.

Although I haven’t seen any sneak peeks, I know this show is going to be amazing. I am a huge fan of both their works and I’m hoping that I will be able to score at least 1 piece from the show. I’ll update the post when more updates surface.

more-toys

I’ve slowly stopped purchasing shirts that aren’t appropriate for both work and personal time– I just can’t bother to change twice in a day– my work doesn’t allow for that kind of energy. Therefore, when a shirt like above- simple and direct, appears on the scene, I jump on the chance to add it to my collection of shirts that will make me feel like I’m true to myself and personality– while allowing my students to get a kick out of it. I still don’t think my boss will like me wearing it, but too bad, sometimes, I really do have to act my age. I’ve officially decided that I want the purple shirt with fuscia font. If those aren’t colors that interest you, it’s quite alright, because the FormulaWerks website offers a slew of both t-shirt colors and font colors, so go ahead and customize your very own shirt. Each shirt will cost you $25, but can you ever really put a price on showing your love for toys?

A while back, not too long ago, I heard of a team called “64 Colors” through JapanLA. Turns out, JapanLA hired them to create a super cute/yummy print exclusively for them– and they just that by producing some of the tastiest, yet too kawaii to eat donut characters. Soon after I spotted the JapanLA post about 64 Colors, I pulled my usual obsessive move and began to search for them online. Do they have a site? Flickr? Twitter? Must add now! =) Well, you can imagine that as soon as I found their site– I quickly learned about Marshall Mashumaro (pictured above).
