Bunny Cart Print by Mark Ryden

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I just finished posting about my love for Audrey’s artwork and realized I never posted about Mark Ryden’s limited edition print, “Bunny Cart.” The print, which was limited to 50 pieces, was part of a very discreet partnership to fundraise money for the David Sheldrick Wildlife trust. It turns out, Ryden likes bunnies. >___< I lied! I don’t know if he likes bunnies, althought who wouldn’t? The organization actually helps endangered rhinos and elephants in Africa, how’s that for some positive help?

I really wanted to purchase one of these prints, as I’ve been a fan of his works since I heard the man’s name from the mouth of KidLew. I immediately appreciated his surrealist style and the overly-saturated cuteness of his works. I don’t know much art lingo, so don’t quote me if I’m wrong on his style, but feel free to correct me. =) The prints, which were hand signed and numbered, cost $1000.00 each. Bah!! I clearly wouldn’t have been able to afford this price tag, but it is a beautiful print that is now sold out. Oh, someday.

Timed Sale: Audrey Kawasaki

As of lately, I’ve been highly attracted to the works that female artists are producing, whether they be in the designer toy world or not. Audrey is one of those talented artists whose work I want to own. I will most likely never save up enough money to buy an original piece, but I do have the dream that some day this will happen– but in the mean time, it seems I, along with other fans, can take advantage of the opportunity she is offering on her blog.

It seems a year ago, she provided fans with the opportunity to own one of her prints. The set up was simple– she picked a date and time limit, and if you “purchased” a print during the allotted time, you were guaranteed one. I appreciate, as a fan and consumer, that Audrey is doing this because she’s giving people the opportunity to purchase her print without having to worry about the “flippers” who purchase them and sell them at ridiculous appreciated values.

It doesn’t end there though. Audrey is not only setting up a timed sale, but she has also posted a poll on her LiveJournal for fans to pick the print that will be for sale during the allotted time. Woohoo! I’m personally interested in the “Two Sisters” print. I wonder how much it’ll cost. Visit Audrey’s blog to learn more from the artist. =)

Prints for Free…

[Rock Band Parappa]

… when you buy two! His name is cyberhadji and he’s selling some really cool looking video game themed prints on his Etsy shop. His prints, which measure 5″x7″ are printed on vintage book pages (and I think the pages seem to connect to the image he’s creating. It could just be me making this observation though). I’ve been wanting to purchase a couple of his prints, but just didn’t know which to choose. It seems that he’s made a year on the Etsy community and has offered the following deal:

From this very moment until May 14th my prints (with the exception of those included in the 3 print sets) are buy 2 get 1 free! The free print must of equal or lesser value than the lowest price of the two prints.

OR

Buy any 3 print set and get one print free!

I think its time for me to start making those purchases I’ve been meaning to make. Hit the jump for more images. And head on over to his shop to make some purchases of your own. His range of characters is amazing. [Etsy] (more…)
