LuvableandHugable (34)

Last week, Megaroo and myself attended the opening night of Gallery Hanahou’s annual (and most anticipated in my opinion) Plush show. For the past 3 years, the gallery has put together an amazing showcase of plushies from various artists. Although I’m not always familiar with all of the participating plush makers, it’s always a pleasure to be introduced to a new artist.

This year, the plush show’s theme was Medium and Small. Plush makers were to create plushies that were the perfect size for hugging, or the perfect size for stuffing in your pocket. The results were nothing short of awesome! You can hit the jump to check out some of my very favorites!

Tomopop’s First-Lady-in-Chief (that’s the title I’ve come up with), Colette, has gone off to Tokyo, Japan to report on-site from Tokyo Game Show. Since I also follow Destructoid, the sister site, I caught her Professor Layton plushies post.

If you don’t know who Professor Layton is, then you obviously haven’t played the Nintendo DS game. The Professor Layton series (so far there have been two releases, more are coming next year) are a series of puzzle games. I recently started playing the second game, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, and so far I’m frustrated. =D Puzzle games always make me feel like fool– Scribblenauts is having the same effect on me too. Anyway, the plushies look super cute and I definitely want to own them. No news on when they’ll be released, but definitely check out PlayAsia for a pre-order. [via: Destructoid]

Right after NYCC, I got a message from a friend that read something like this: “Hey. You like cute shit right?”  I, of course answered, “yes!” I was then sent a link to a site called, Meenamade. Luis was right, I totally love the plushies on the site. My very favorites are the monkeys and rabbits– as you can see from the image above. I have no idea how much the plushies cost, because her shop leads to her etsy page– but you can email her directly at meenamade[at]gmail[dotcom]. Now go and check her site out!

I haven’t posted about tokidoki in a while, therefore, I’m quite delighted to share the uber cuteness that are the Adios and Ciao Ciao plushies. I posted about Mozzarella and Sandy almost a year ago, and although I do not have Sandy yet (I got caught up buying lots of other things), the Mr. surprised me with Mozzarella and she is super soft. I am definitely going to be picking up Adios, because he’s simply my favorite tokidoki character– and will feel obligated to get Ciao Ciao because I can’t separate the lovely couple now can’t I?

These two won’t be released until the end of the month, beginning of March. I’m guessing that they’ll retail for about the same price that Mozzarella and Sandy sold for, $20 a pop. I’ll keep you updated on the exact release– or feel free to drop me a line if you spot them so I can update.

Baka! Today was the opening night of Gallery Hanahou’s Second Annual (??) Plush show. Last year, I’d never heard of Gallery Hanahou, but it was this very show that brought them to my attention. I’d made a promise to myself to catch the show this year and I hate that my day job interfered with my attending the opening night. Blah! It doesn’t mean I can’t catch the show later this month, as the show will be on display from today through January 7th– but the sooner I get my butt down there, the better the chances are that I’ll actually see it. =)

Although I didn’t make it today, I thought I would share some of my favorite plushies that I spotted on the sale list. If you want to purchase one, I’ll provide the link and more information at the bottom of this post.

MINE?!!

Who hear does not like Office Space? Oh– is that right? Leave. Alright, for those of you who LOVE Office Space like myself, can you imagine my reaction when I spotted this plushie? He is spot on and even the red stapler rules ALL. Apparently he was created by an uber-cool gal named Jen Rarey– who apparently makes other great plushies. I so want to hug him and then steal his red stapler.

I wants!

I wants!

Someone out there in the world has combined my favorite movie (of all time?) with my love for plushies and mashed it into a huggable EVE! We remember EVE don’t we? The very sleek and beautiful robot that Wall-E falls in love with. I wish I could hug the creator in person as words simply cannot express how much I am loving the plushie. Now, is it for sale? Not quite. At least, I don’t think so. But, if you’ve got some creativity and sewing skills you can make your very own with a step-by-step guide provided my Instructables. Oh, Craftzine, you always have the best crafts on your site.

OMG?!! Is this me not slacking on posts? I can’t believe it– you can’t believe it. You’re right, I’m very sorry for my lack of updates. If it makes you feel any better, I had a busy weekend and worked 2 days in a row. Now onto the subject at hand.

I am happy to make this my first “coming back” post. I’ve had the information sitting in my email for about a week or more (please don’t kill me). Anyway, a while back I got an email with the subject line, “cool toys.” Cool indeed they were (<– I don’t think that made sense, unless you’re Yoda). Hit the jump to see the plushies I want!

It has to be made clear that from now on, all Captain Orimar/Pikmin posts are dedicated to my flickr buddy Doc18. He has changed the way I react to these creatures and thought he deserved the shout out! I am definitely going to be ordering myself a Captain Orimar and Pikmin crew from PlayAsia, and you should really do the same! They’re too cute and seeing what Doc has done to them through photos, I’m sure you can catch them in action too. You can get them for about $14.99 a piece.
