Tokidoki Invades NYC

nystoreIf you’re a tokidoki fan, I’m sure you’ve spotted the flyer above somewhere announcing the invasion of tokidoki in NY. Well, I’d gotten this flyer about 2 weeks ago, or so, and was under the impression that the shop would be opening this upcoming weekend. I was wrong, as so was most of the world actually, not our fault, just a bit of miscommunication. Although, this weekend, Simone Legno will indeed be on location for the Grand Opening celebration and signing, the shop’s been open since last week. To those who are familiar with the area, the tokidoki shop has actually taken over the LeSportsac shop that used to be there.

I meant to make the trip to the tokidoki shop this weekend, but thanks to all the fun I was having during the snowstorm, I went today instead. The shop, is just like I remember it, super small! I can only imagine the chaos this weekend is going to bring to the staff. =) If you keep reading, you can see a picture of the new print that is being sold exclusively at the shop, along with upcoming Tokidoki x Hello Kitty Plushies.

Would you like some pants with that?

With a stunt like this, all I can really say is: wow! I don’t have the courage to do that in public. Oh, by the way, you know this stunt could only be pulled in NYC.

Baka! Today was the opening night of Gallery Hanahou’s Second Annual (??) Plush show. Last year, I’d never heard of Gallery Hanahou, but it was this very show that brought them to my attention. I’d made a promise to myself to catch the show this year and I hate that my day job interfered with my attending the opening night. Blah! It doesn’t mean I can’t catch the show later this month, as the show will be on display from today through January 7th– but the sooner I get my butt down there, the better the chances are that I’ll actually see it. =)

Although I didn’t make it today, I thought I would share some of my favorite plushies that I spotted on the sale list. If you want to purchase one, I’ll provide the link and more information at the bottom of this post.

On Monday, on my way to meet up with the Mr. for some yummy Japanese food (food critique coming soon), I walked by Giant Robot NY, which is seriously down the block from me– and realized that something was different. GRNY used to take up two shops– the actual store and the gallery. I noticed that now the gallery was both shop and gallery and next door I’d spotted something familiar– Upper Playground.
