Nightmare Before Christmas comes to Blu-Ray

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Disney announces that Nightmare Before Christmas is coming to Blu-Ray and Standard DVD this summer. The Blu-Ray version of course will have all the goodies of an HD treatment (1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.66:1), English Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Surround). Both version will have all-new bonus features. This includes audio commentary with Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman, the “What’s This? Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour” interactive tour of Disneyland’s Holiday Haunted Mansion, a “Tim Burton Original Poem” narrated by Christopher Lee, and “Introduction To Frankenweenie!” (a new un-cut version of Burton’s classic short). The Blu-Ray gets an exclusive introduction from Tim Burton himself. The Blu-Ray isn’t priced evil as it’s only 39.99. Sounds like it well worth it for the extras.

While not a hard core fan like saki. I do enjoy the art style and music quite a lot. So I will be picking up the Blu-Ray version. Though I’m not sure I had a choice anyway. I am sure saki would have demand the disc anyway- just beating her to the punch.

Kidnap the Sandy Clause…

Monday, March 24th, 2008

I’ve noted before that Nightmare Before Christmas happens to be one of my all time favorite movies ever, right? Well, when I spotted this cake, I needed to know more about it, so I contacted the person who made it [chomocakes]. Most importantly, I need to know if I could eat it. Some would question me on the decision to want to eat such a masterpiece, but really, why let it go to waste? She responded to me, and I knew it was time to share [also, hit the jump to see her tokidoki inspired cake]. See her message below.

I made this for my nephew’s birthday last Halloween. The three characters are made of rice krispies treats, covered in fondant, and painted with an edible luster dust. each one took anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to create. my husband and i stayed up all night working on them.

The bathtub is chocolate cake, again covered in rolled fondant, and painted by my husband (flickr.com/people/b1) with lusterdust to give it that rust appearance.

Everything you see is 100% edible. we pride ourselves on craftsmanship, attention to detail, and above all, cakes that taste as good as they look.

thanks,
