Dunny Series 5= More Awesomeness!

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Hey peeps… should I even apologize for my abcense? I’ve gone over the deep end– kidding! More like I’m officially in Florida– WOOHOO! Anyway, I wanted to share my excitement for the upcoming Dunny Series 5 from Kidrobot (ready to drop September 4th). I’d spotted the above image on the KidRobot forums and immediately spotted Doktor A. and Amanda Visell’s pieces that I needed to own yesterday. Already I’m looking forward to a couple of designs, which is almost re-establishing my faith in the Dunny series. Let’s face it people, S4 simply wasn’t all that great– maybe.

Anyway, MAD added on to this re-established faith when he posted the following “clue” on his flickr page:

I could tell from his design that it was going to be related to S5, but I didn’t know it would be this good… (more…)

MAD’s Slimeball

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Just popped over Mad’s flickr to discover his upcoming Slimeball Sqwerts. The green is the original colorway (making the brown the chase), both are exclusive to Jamungo. I’m not sure how much they’re going to cost or when exactly they’ll be up for sale, but they’re “here” according to Jamungo’s post. UPDATE: Vinyl Pulse reports the following:

The regular colorways of each (green for MAD and black/white for Brian Morris) are limited to 500 pieces.  The alternate colorways are limited to 250 (brown for MAD, and black/gold for Brian Morris).  These should be dropping next week (or slighty after that) for a suggested retail of $25.

How I feel about them, no clue. I don’t think I actually saw a sqwert in person until Lou P.’s custom at the APW Gallery two weeks ago. They’re an interesting shape, one that MAD so boldly took on and was successful in the outcome.

KidRobot Curiosity

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

KidRobot NY is my second favorite designer toy shop in my area. MPH is the proud owner of the #1 spot in my heart, can’t help it, I’m a total fangirl. KidRobot- though I love their deco style- is a little too mainstream for me. Due to my latest experience at their Greene St. location, I’ve held some resentment towards the mean employee there, therefore, it’s still a fresh wound. With all this aside though, KidRobot happens to be responsible for introducing me to the world of designer toys through their dunnys, so whether I like it or not, they’ve always played an important role for me in this scene.* (more…)

NYCC: Sket and Mad

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I thought I’d post both these fellas together since they happen to be friends. Above is one of Sket’s (hopefully) upcoming Elementals. The clowd is my favorite one. I’d spotted these on display when Sket had his Oil Flock release at My Plastic Heart, but until now had not heard or seen them. When asked about the production, talks were still in the works about whether they’d get the okay or not. I hope they get produced this year, I really want them.

Mad’s Sharpies are apparently definitely going to be released this year. I overheard that these sharpies have been ready for a while, but their original release date was too close to his Bent World Vandals. I liked that series, though I only own two or three, I didn’t want to submit my wallet to blind boxes again. These sharpies, however, look so much better. The quality, the stubbiness, and they all really scream MAD! Not sure how much they’re going to be or when they’ll be released.

Mad about Mad*L’s

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Last night was Mad’s Phase 3 realease. What’s that mean? I am referring to the second coming of his Mad*l’s. I have to say that since I got into the scene I was longing for this day. I wasn’t around during the first wave of Mad*L’s and now that he’s producing them himself, I am overjoyed with the upcoming releases. In order to kick off the Mad*L wave, Mad has a custom 10″ Mad*Ls show at MPH last night. Check out more photos after the jump. (more…)

Mad for MadL Pillows

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Mad just posted a sneak peak on his flickr of what seems to be some MadL pillows. So far I like the middle design and the blue on the right hand side. I’m not sure I like the one on the left, it kind of looks like a luchador and I’m simply not a fan. There’s no additional information on release, price, or who’s going to be distributing them. I’ll let ya know of any updates.
