Kidrobot’s TADO bags

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Tado is one of my favorite duo’s out there. Thanks to my friend, the ever vigilant Pimpscooby, I have been directed to Kidrobot’s newest bag additions. I am not into their bags, they are way to tacky ang gaudy for me. Correctly, I’m not into their latest bags, seeing as how I own the all-over-Dunny black leather bag. I am however, in love with the Tado additions and the bag above is the one I want, right now please. The bag above is currently selling for $126, but I think it has to do with the Thanksgiving weekend sales, normal price tag is $168. If you want to check out the other styles, or want to purchase the bag above, follow this link to Kidrobot’s TADO search.

MUNNY on the Run

MUNNY on the Run! from Kidrobot on Vimeo.

A very long time ago, I posted a video from kidrobot in which they promoted their Munny. Now, they’ve released a second video and I love it just as much as the first one. If you missed Kidrobot’s first video, click this link to watch it.

Where I’ll be

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Next week, November 5th, I plan on attending a lecture that hosts Paul Budnitz (KidRobot) and Mark Graham (ILoveDust). The lecture will focus on character design, animation and toy design. I think it’ll be great to learn about both the toy maker’s perspective and the artist’s perspective. I fell that many times whenever we interview people, we clearly only get one side of the story and I’m curious to hear about their “horrors” in the business. I hope to take some good notes and pictures– I also hope to score a sketch from ILoveDust since KidRobot wouldn’t let me bring my black book when he was in town earlier in the year. =) Funny.

Jon Burgerman’s Hero Gobbler

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Jon Burgerman has just posted the fella above. I’m a little confused about the description he gave on his Flickr, take a look:

Tiny Hero (made giant) + The Gobbler (made tiny) + massive Dunny from Kid Robot x Stu Witter mad custom skillz + Burgerdoodles = Supercrazy Hero-Gobbler-Dunny Custom edition of one.

Though I am confused about the description, (from what I gather tiny character made big through kidrobot’s 20″ dunny?) I think he looks super cute. He actually looks like a super hero, and I would love it if KidRobot considered making him 8″ for the masses. According to Jon, the dunny will be traveling to KidRobot locations to be on display. I LIKE!

Kathie Olivas’ Live Painting

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Ladies and Gents, mark your calendars! On September 25th, Kathie Olivas– female artist extraordinaire will be having a LIVE painting at KidRobot NY. What does that mean? That I am so there!!

Earlier this year I’d missed Tara McPherson’s live painting, but not this time. I refuse to miss it! Kathie will be working on a 4′ dunny for KidRobot and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with– must study and observe the talented beauty.

Andrew Bell’s KidReaper

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

As soon as I got wind of these news, from my GID obsessed Mr., I knew I had to share. Andrew Bell is quite an awesome artist. I’ve bugged him twice for sketches for my book and I love them. I wasn’t around for many of his releases, so whenever that happens I always get a special kind of excited because I’m getting the chance to support artists when I was unable to for a while.

Anyway, Andrew’s upcoming KidReaper, due to release October 16th is nothing short of AWESOME. Not only is it a reaper, but it glows!! This is clearly going to be purchased for the Mr. and I think with a $50 price tag, it’s quite worth it, don’t you agree?

Dunny Series 5= More Awesomeness!

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Hey peeps… should I even apologize for my abcense? I’ve gone over the deep end– kidding! More like I’m officially in Florida– WOOHOO! Anyway, I wanted to share my excitement for the upcoming Dunny Series 5 from Kidrobot (ready to drop September 4th). I’d spotted the above image on the KidRobot forums and immediately spotted Doktor A. and Amanda Visell’s pieces that I needed to own yesterday. Already I’m looking forward to a couple of designs, which is almost re-establishing my faith in the Dunny series. Let’s face it people, S4 simply wasn’t all that great– maybe.

Anyway, MAD added on to this re-established faith when he posted the following “clue” on his flickr page:

I could tell from his design that it was going to be related to S5, but I didn’t know it would be this good… (more…)

Haven’t gotten your Vivesect Playset yet? Get them now.*

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

The Vivisect blindboxes have been available for a while and to be quite honest, I really love them. The artists that were chosen for this series, and the designs they produced were really different from other blind box series already released. These, to me, seemed much more grown up. Well, their original price was $8.95, which wasn’t a horrible price at all- but if you live in the US, you can now get your blindbox Vivesect figures for $5.00 a pop at UrbanOutfitters. They’ll clearly still be blindboxed, but you’ll save yourself a couple of bucks on your mission of getting all the designs.

*I’m starting a “project,” concerning my titles that is- they’ll probably be longer, but hopefully more specific.

Dunny S5

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

And the announcements keep rolling through. This one was picked up on Vinyl Pulse, where Jack got a photo of 4 of the upcoming Dunny Series 5 designs. They’re slated for a fall release. No word yet on the list of artists who’ll stamp on their style to the much loved and collected Dunny figure.

A Dunny Auction

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Well, I’m sure you’ve been made aware of the Christie Auction House for some KidRobot products, right? It includes artists like; Sket, Mist, Tilt, Amanda Visell, and many more. Well, if you’ve been looking for those dunnies you weren’t around during release for, this may be your chance. If I had a couple grand to spare I really would throw my cash into the Colette set. That is by far my favorite series, though I don’t own a single one. That was pre-me. Hit the jump for other stuff you can drop some greens for. [Christie Auction House] (more…)
