I will tell you this, two of the winners are some of my favorite buddies on Twitter. ^___^ Congratulations. The three people will be contacted by email or DM on twitter tomorrow morning, or they can DM once they see this. =D

Yay!! Thanks again Benny, you’ve made some people very happy.

p.s. I look like total shit! I’ve been under the weather lately, and the crappy weather outdoors isn’t helping. Blegh!

Yay!! By the time people see this, it will be my official birthtime! Shockingly enough I was born at 7am, strange since I’m a total night-owl. Never been an early bird, other than for classes. =D Anyway, of all coincidences, Jon Burgerman and Jim Avignon– better known as Anxieteam– will be performing at the Cake Factory. So, I’ll be spending my birthday with them –>

And! If you’d like to see why– you can hit the jump to see their first music video. =D

Interview: Jon Burgerman from I Heart Cool Stuff on Vimeo.

Last week was a pretty busy week for Jon Burgerman. Not only did he participate in a group show at Factory Fresh, which we recorded by the way and will be posting soon, but he had his solo opening at Giant Robot New York.

Jon Burgerman has been residing in New York City this summer, and he’s actually heading back home today, if I’m not mistaken. The solo show ecompasses his experiences in the US, as he made a stop in LA before arriving to New York. I had the opportunity to talk to him a bit about both his performance at Factory Fresh the night before (August 14th) and his time on our side of the pond. Keep reading to check out the video and photos from the solo show.

BBB-flyerThis weekend is looking to be a really busy weekend for Jon Burgerman since he’s booked for two shows. On Friday he’ll be participating in a group show with Jim Avignon and a couple other artist that seem to represent different parts of the world at Factory Fresh. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not, but I’m looking forward to being exposed to different cultures. Also, Jon will be playing the ukulele and I hope to either live-stream it, or the Mr. will film and share.

On Saturday, Jon will have his first (?) US solo show at Giant Robot NY. The title alone already suggests that I’ll definitely enjoy this show: My American Summer will feature works inspired by his “holiday” in LA and NYC. I wonder if he’ll include a piece of someone calling him an arsehole on his birthday? That’s New York for ya. I’ll definitely be at both shows, as it may be the last time I see Burgerman before he leaves the states.

If you’d like to follow him more closely, then I suggest visiting DoodleSplatter— it has EVERYTHING!

Jon and Jim Doodling

Last week Jon Burgerman and Jim Avignon had their show at Factory Fresh in Brooklyn at the exact same times as the Bossy Bear and Friends event I posted about. Although I love David Horvath, my priority on Thursday was really to get my butt to Brooklyn and meet Jon for the very first time. Turns out, Jon hasn’t been in the states since 2004, so I really didn’t want to miss my opportunity to not only meet the UK artist, but also steal his soul by scoring a sketch in my book. I don’t discriminate. =)

It is finally happening. Jon Burgerman is in the states and he’ll be in a collaborative show with Jim Avignon at Factory Fresh located in Brooklyn. Yes, the man is that close to me right now. =) I’ve been anticipating the day I’d meet him and I thought it would happen during Kidrobot’s 3Bears signing last year, but he didn’t show and Kidrobot were acting like douches by not allowing black books at the signing– that’s a whole different dilemma all together. Now, I’ll have the chance to actually see Jon’s canvas works up close and hopefully chat with him a little bit about toys, art, and life itself. If you’re in town, click on the link to get more info.

By the way, I’m aware that this show is taking place the same day/time that David Horvath will be at Yoyamart. I love David and have been lucky enough to meet and chat with him a couple times now– so I am comitting myself to the Burgerman show. If time allows, I’ll try to be at the Bossy Bear’s turtle release. Besides, I hear Jon’s been couped up in a basement since he arrived, waking up on deflated air beds and whatnot– I definitely want to see the live drawing and get him in my new book!

Jon Burgerman’s Hero Gobbler

Jon Burgerman has just posted the fella above. I’m a little confused about the description he gave on his Flickr, take a look:

Tiny Hero (made giant) + The Gobbler (made tiny) + massive Dunny from Kid Robot x Stu Witter mad custom skillz + Burgerdoodles = Supercrazy Hero-Gobbler-Dunny Custom edition of one.

Though I am confused about the description, (from what I gather tiny character made big through kidrobot’s 20″ dunny?) I think he looks super cute. He actually looks like a super hero, and I would love it if KidRobot considered making him 8″ for the masses. According to Jon, the dunny will be traveling to KidRobot locations to be on display. I LIKE!

The Artist’s T-Shirt Post

I bring news of 5 different artists and their upcoming t-shirts. First I’ll focus on Bubi Au Yeung’s shirts, and then you can hit the jump to find out (and see) the shirts that Doktor A, Tara McPherson, Jon Burgerman and Dalek are releasing.

I love Bubi! If you don’t know who she is, the above photo should give you an inclination. She’s the talented artist that brought us Treeson (and all it’s colorways/sizes). She recently shared the newest additions to her Zazzle shop where she sells her own apparel.

Be Different is the newest addition to her site. She has it available in several cuts for both men and women, and also has some key chains, hats and a mug!! I think I might be picking up the mug for myself, because I have a mug collection that needs some growing. I also happen to love her previous design:

I am actually quite in love with the expression on her character’s face. hee-hee. I say, I want to ask Bubi to turn me into a Treeson. The very first image is a picture of Bubi (treeson-ized). I like that she’s able to do a simple design with such limited colors. Great job Bubi! To check out her shop, click this link. Now, keeping reading to see stuff from some of our other favorite artists.

He’s also created two designs for the iPhone. Though I don’t currently own an iPhone (someday), I would love to display my love for his characters through my phone. Hit the jump for the other designs and purchasing info.

Jon Burgerman and his Magnificent 7 Pack

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted about sneakers. Well, not really, I did write about the Tokidoki for Onitsuka sneakers– which, I’ll eventually get. I have however, been holding out on posting this image, because I’ve been trying to get my hands on a pair. Jon Burgerman teamed up with Nike to release a Magnificent 7 sneaker pack.

What’s that mean? That he designed 7 pairs of sneakers for Nike. And the one pictured above is the pair I want to wear on my feet to bed at night, now please. I’ve been in search of them since Jon posted them on his flickr. You might think, why haven’t I seen these? Well, it has a lot to do with the fact they weren’t released in the US, only in the UK. Those darn lucky bastards!

So anyone of you visiting me from the UK? Please, let me know where I can order myself a pair, or if you’d be so kind to mail them for me. I found them online at the European Footlocker, but I can’t order them. Help please. Hit the jump to see his other designs.
