“Spread the Lead” Now Online

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

On October 16th, I was able to squeeze out of a work meeting to attend Gallery Hanahou’s Spread the Lead opening in lower Manhattan. I’m a fan of this gallery, though this is officially the second show I attend there (the first being Superdeux’s solo show). It is located inside the Cable Building, which has been around since 1892– suddenly, this has turned into an architectural history lesson. Anyway, before reaching the actual gallery, you have to walk through this pathway with high ceilings and huge windows on either sides, I love walking through it, click here to see a photo. (more…)

Gallery Hanahou, NYC, is going to be hosting a show titled Spread the Lead on October 16th, 2008. It seems that the show, very similar to Black Maria Gallery’s show: Get the Lead Out, challenges artists to create a piece [s] with a single tool, a pencil. I was very interested BMG’s show, but clearly I don’t live on the West Coast so I only got to see images from the show. I’m curious to see what the Hanahou participating artists come up with and maybe see if any of them really had a difficult task creating art with a pencil (graphic artists maybe?).
