Nathan Drake

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Erick Scarecrow. Mostly because he’s been laying kind of low, and although I’m a fan of his Soopa Girl figure, I really loved the original colorway. Well, a while back he dropped a hint that he’s been working on a project with Sony Playstation, and today both Playstation Blog and Erick have released the news of his project.

Erick Scarecrow has designed a vinyl version of Nathan Drake, lead character in the video game Unchartered/ Unchartered 2. It seems that they’re aiming to release this figure in the fall. I can say that I’m loving the original colorway– but am not loving the color combinations in the variants. Nonetheless, congratulations to Erick Scarecrow for scoring this awesome opportunity.

I just got Erick Scarecrow’s newsletter update, and it’s making me a bit upset. It turns out that if you picked up one of Erick’s Soopa’s you were entered to win a chance to purchase his latest limited figure: Soopa Maria Sato. Upon receiving the email, I was instantly drawn to the figure, which has a very good balance of Super Mario Bros. characteristics as much as Erick’s art style. I am however a little confused on the whole, winning a chance to purchase a $90 figure. I don’t know… the holiday season is here and I can’t afford to buy the figure at the moment, but I would’ve liked to have a better chance at picking it up in the near future. To those who can pick it up, NICE!

Finally! Erick unveils Chelly, Chelly Chainsaw. I have to admit that I’m really loving the figure. It has a lot to do with the fact that it’s really touching base with my violent side and I’m imagining Chelly chainsawing all my designer toys. That would be a disaster, and yet, I get a kick out of imagining just that. I’m not sure how much Chelly is going to retail for, but we finally get to see what she looks like. In other news…

So, just shy of a week away from SDCC, and Erick Scarecrow has confirmed his attendance to SDCC this year. What is he going to be debuting? His dangerously serene Kissaki. I purchased the first release of his Kissaki during NYCC and now, he releases this! Did you notice the anger there? It wasn’t against the figure as much as yet another thing to add to my list of demands! I have to admit that the teal in her hair is really resonating for me. Great job Erick, now, what happened with Chelly Chainsaw?

Straight from the press, or better stated; straight from Erick’s flickr account comes a first look of Chelly Chainsaws chainsaw. He has a tagline that states: The blood will run. If such is the case, I request much MORE blood, please.

I’m still catching up with LOADS of things… damn it, the damage that 12 hrs will do. Anyway, Flickr is becoming the best place for artists to drop some sneak peek photos. Has anyone else but me noticed that? I’m very accepting of this since Flickr plays a huge role in my life, some may find this sad- I still think I rule!

Well, Erick has officially (or is it unofficially) released a sneak peek of Chelly Chainsaw. My verdict… from what I see it’s reminding me a bit of the Mouse Micci design, which is a cool figure to me. Also, anything with a chainsaw kind of rules. Now, my question is, what kind of bottom is he/she going to have? I’m worried they’ll be big feet like Lady Liberty and all the other vinyl figures- though I do love the liberty and kissaki.  Let’s see what happens. Visit Erick’s Flickr for source of photo.

… Maybe I should’ve written a sticky that said I’d be at NYCC all weekend! Yesterday was exciting, I have plenty of things to post about… but it’ll all have to wait until tomorrow because I’m just going to wrap things up for y’all with a “pretty little bow”. In the meantime, I went to Erick Scarecrow’s Soopa Coin Up Show. First thing that must be mentioned, getting there really was “soopa easy” as Erick stated on the flyer.

Once I got there, I have to admit that I was highly impressed with the space. It was nothing like I had imagined… then again, whenever I’m outside of my safe zone, nothing is really what it seems. The space was big and well lit. I’m not a fan of florescent lights beaming over my head, but I love florescent lights both behind or under vinyls because it just makes for better photos. That’s just my opinion.

The customs were overall amazing. I had fond memories of kANO’s Money Grip show- not in the art or artists themselves, but seeing what other artists do with ONE specific figure. The munny/dunny is so “mainstream” that it doesn’t have the same effect on me that these shapes have. Hit the jump for some of my favorites and visit the flickr to see all of the customs.

I just opened my email to Erick’s NYCC surprise. I have to say that I am a huge fan of Erick’s Liberty, that figure looks amazing. This Kissaki figure is up there in terms of my love for it. I want it, it could be because “saki” is in it, or the fact that she’s got two swords with fists at the end. Either way, the figure will be released during NYCC and it’ll cost you$69.99.

I have a file on my computer titled: things to post, and everyday I clear it up just a little bit. If you don’t believe me, message me and I’ll send you a pic. ^_^

Anyway, The Soopa Show flyer has been sitting in this folder for a while now. I didn’t want to post too early because then I’d forget to remind people and wanted to make sure there were no changes. When thatgirl posted a custom Soopa that was added to her flickr group, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to post about the show.

Erick Scarecrow has unleased blank soopa’s to various artists and on April 19th, he’ll be letting us see what they’ve come up with. If you’re in the city for NYCC, I recommend you make this show. I for one was debating between the Soopa show and the Buff show and since I’ve already had the pleasure of both meeting and talking to Buff (+ my sketch), I figured it’d only be right that I travel to Queens and see what people have come up with. Visit Esc-Toy LTD. for more.
