MPHLabs Sneak Peek

June 9th, 2009

mphl

Last week MPHLabs subscribers got a sneak peek of their upcoming figure. I, being the huge fan of Lou that I am, recognized it immediately! It’s Cranston!! It seems I’m not the only one who thinks so, many people on the net [SpankyStokes in particular] went as far as to piece together the “full” figure using a custom Lou produced a while back. We’re not 100% sure it is Cranston, but, I think we’re all 99.9% sure it is. I can’t wait to see it!! Lou Pimentel is such an amazing artist, I really can’t wait to welcome his first figure. I’ll update the post as more info comes along.

Sushi from Andrew Bell?

June 9th, 2009

VPEast posted a wrap-up of this weekend’s MOCCA Festival, and among their pictures, taken by kaNO nonetheless– there was the above photo of Andrew Bell. He is holding what is to be his next figure! Woohoo!

From what I can see, the figure he’s holding is based on the print above. Funny enough, I LOVE this print. It is my favorite sticker too! Every time I run into Andrew at a fair, I must purchase at least one of these stickers. I hope that the blue isn’t the final color, because I really like the original image. Will keep you posted when I hear more news. Yay!!

By the way– I just bought Andrew Bell’s shirt on Threadless for $5!!! If you love his stuff, don’t miss this opportunity to get it. Click the link below to be re-directed.

“Smile, Happy, Live, Long” TADO Mug

June 3rd, 2009

tado-mug

I just spotted the “Smile, Happy, Live, Long” mug on  TADO’s flickr. It is awesome! I kinda want to use the word, “prosper” even though I’m not a trekkie. =) I don’t think I’ve mentioned this since I purchased the Gloomy Bear mug, but I kind of have a nice mug collection.

It seems that TADO’s mug will be shipped from the UK– I took the liberty of calculating the costs, okay, I lied– their Big Cartel did it for me. To purchase a single mug and get it shipped to the US, you’ll need to drop approx. $24.02. You can purchase it at the lovely TADO shop.

Weekend Flicks

June 2nd, 2009

cshcb-duo

This weekend the Mr. and I finally had a movie day. We haven’t really had a lazy weekend in a long time, and this weekend wasn’t an exception to that, but I’m dog sitting again so we layed back just a little. I still have loads of posts and interviews to catch up on, but I really wanted to share my thoughts on two of the flicks we watched this weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

Bwana Spoons at KRNY

June 2nd, 2009

bwanaspoons-krny

This upcoming weekend, Bwana Spoons, will be stopping by Kidrobot NY for a special book and print release. His book, Welcome to Forest Island, contains 144pgs of his art– which I haven’t seen in person, but I hear is stunning. The book will retail for $30 and I have no details on the print, other than the name: Jesse & the Pinwheel.

I will definitely be attending this show, even though its on a Sunday and interferes with my Monday Morning anxiety. Haha. =) I’m hoping that I’ll be able to score a sketch from him in my black book, anyone else going?

On the Scene: The Ninth Square Collective

June 1st, 2009

[Click here to Watch in HD]

Thanks to VPEast, the Mr. and I were made aware of a show in Connecticut, that included Sket-One. I’m sure you’ve noticed from past posts, that I’m a big fan of the artist, so the Mr. and I didn’t hesitate to take the MetroNorth out there– it was also cheap enough. Check out more pics and info after the jump.

Camilla d’Errico’s KURO

May 29th, 2009

 Kuro Release

Yesterday I got news that Camilla d’Errico’s character, KURO, is being released in plush form. =D Although I am a huge fan of her art style and and am constantly charmed by her female characters, I’ve never actually had the pleasure of reading BURN, the comic she illustrates. Thanks to this uber cute, yet, apparently really evil character, I may just have to pick up the comic book.

It seems that thanks to DKE, you can purchase both the character and comic in a set which will retail for $15USD, or if you’d rather pick up the plush alone, he’ll cost $10.99USD. I think $15 is a super cheap price, so I’ll most likely be picking up the set. He stands 6″ in height, and according to his description, he’s got a “too cute to believe” booty. I want now!!

p.s. Camilla just updated the look of her site, and I <3 it!!

Tokyo Plastic x Terratag

May 26th, 2009

Earlier today, before brushing my teeth for that matter, I got an email from Urban Retro– which I believe is a UK Lifestyle shop– regarding a collaboration between Tokyo Plastic and Terratag. I’m sure you’re fully aware that I’m addicted to all things Tokyo Plastic. I love their flash videos, and the vinyl Geishas, Opera Men and Kogumas they’ve released to date. I even wrote a post trying to predict which 2-D character would make the transformation into a 3D platform– yeah, I think it’s obvious that I’m a fan.

Well, now the design duo (Adam and Sam??) have collaborated with Terratag– a t-shirt shop that focuses on Asian inspired streetwear– and have created tees with some of their most recognized musically talented characters.

The two shirt designs above are the ones I feel I need to have right now– but there are 2 other designs that I want to pick up in the near future. I’m not sure what the cotton blend on these shirts are, I prefer the soft/thin cotton blend as opposed to the rough kind of tees, but they are made of 100% cotton which is great for various weather conditions. Each shirt costs approx. $32 USD, plus shipping, which is probably going to kick my ass. Blah! Head on over to Urban Retro to check out all of the shirts they collaborated with– there are about 6 designs.

“3″ Wrap-Up

May 26th, 2009

It seems I am consistently late on my posts– but I promise it’s not for lack of trying– this is the wonderful time in the year when a lot of things are happening. =) A little over 2 weeks ago I’d posted about Patrick Francisco’s show at APW. The show consisted of original works (both canvas and customs) by Patrick Francisco, along with works from two of his friends; Jerome Miller and Polina Soshkina.
