Updates from Erick Scarecrow

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Finally! Erick unveils Chelly, Chelly Chainsaw. I have to admit that I’m really loving the figure. It has a lot to do with the fact that it’s really touching base with my violent side and I’m imagining Chelly chainsawing all my designer toys. That would be a disaster, and yet, I get a kick out of imagining just that. I’m not sure how much Chelly is going to retail for, but we finally get to see what she looks like. In other news… (more…)

Kathie Olivas’ Scavengers Series 2

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Oh Kathie, it’s like, you heard me beg for more of your stuff (at affordable prices) and made it happen. I love you, seriously. Alright, maybe I’m in love with your work, I’ll stop creeping you out now.

Anyway, it’s officially been annouced, MindStyle will be release Series 2 of Kathie’s beloved Scavengers, and it seems they’ll be made available by October. Awesome! I’ve already decided I want them all, but more specefically the squid girl (because it’s a collaboration between her and Brandt) and I want RAYGUN!! I believe they’ll retail for the same price Series 1 retailed for, but who knows, I’m sure MindStyle noticed the jackpot they hit with these figures and might consider jacking up the price tag a bit. I want anyway. Gimme!!

Julie for Jansport Pt. 2

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Back in January, Jansport held an event for their “Artist Series.” I didn’t pay attention on the KidRobot boards and clearly missed the invite to attend the event. Lucky for me, a very cool cat totally hooked me up with one of Julie West x Jansport bags from the previous Artist Series (girl with balloons).

Well, Julie has just posted the image above on her flickr and already I’m gushing over the messenger bag. I am in love with my current bag and I have to tell you that’s its a lot sturdier then I thought it would be. It’s a huge bag that holds way more items then I wish it did, since it can get heavy. My delight with my current bag is sending me straight to the check out page with the new release. I want!!

Ninjatown in your City

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Ninja’s rule!! And Shawnimals (Shawn and Jen) makes them rule even more with their uber-cuteness and huggable little selves. Well, I’ve known about the Ninjatown DS game for a while, but it seems it is finally arriving. It won’t be release for another 2 months, but some of us may get to play it sooner than we think.

Shawnimals is ready to go on tour to promote his Ninjatown DS game at a designer toy shop near you. Woot-woot. I will clearly be attending the MPH event on October 3rd, which one are you attending? We’ll compare notes. In case you didn’t know, Shawn has a lot to live up to, seeing as how he used to write for a video game magazine– can’t wait for the ninjas!

Oh, and apparently, they’re going to have Ol’ Master Ninja plushies available. Yay!

Andrew Bell’s KidReaper

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

As soon as I got wind of these news, from my GID obsessed Mr., I knew I had to share. Andrew Bell is quite an awesome artist. I’ve bugged him twice for sketches for my book and I love them. I wasn’t around for many of his releases, so whenever that happens I always get a special kind of excited because I’m getting the chance to support artists when I was unable to for a while.

Anyway, Andrew’s upcoming KidReaper, due to release October 16th is nothing short of AWESOME. Not only is it a reaper, but it glows!! This is clearly going to be purchased for the Mr. and I think with a $50 price tag, it’s quite worth it, don’t you agree?

Raving Rabbids for Sale!!!

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

A while back I’d written about UbiSoft and the awesome free swag they gave away. Thanks to a very special lady (danke once more woman!) I was able to get my hands on the set (pictured above by me). I love the Raving Rabbids and to have an entire set of them that represents some of UbiSoft’s popular titles makes me super giddy inside.

This morning, another awesome lady (the pimp) sent me a link to an article from Kotaku. It seems UbiSoft has sort of extended their kindness by offering to sell the rabbids on their site. They’re not there yet, but soon, they will be. Along with the individual boxes witch are also in theme with the games they represent (Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Assassin’s Creed and of course the Raving Rabbids)– they have added an additional character. I want me a plunger holding Rabbid now please. Woohoo!! I will try to update when they become available, but for now let’s bask in the opportunity to be able to buy them.

P.S. I am officially a Dean in a NYC middle school/high school— therefore, please apologize my lack of posting. I’m getting the hang of my busy schedule. Hopefully I shall resurface strong. -saki

I love me some watermelon!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

This goes out to the Microsoft loyalist… haha! The Watermelon Zune is hitting stores June 10th, which by my calculations falls on a Sunday. Some may recall, I own a Zune, I own the brown w/ green outline, and I must say that this new addition is making me tingle. It could be the name, I love watermelon! Anyways, currently there are a couple colors in the market; Brown, Black, Red, Powder Pink, and White; to be exact. I should let you know that there are also a number of limited edition ones. The Halo 3 is the latest addition. Its actually quite cool, take a look:

I could be wrong, but I think it comes equipped with some Halo videos.

Anyway, I sort of want to trade in my brown one, but there is also rumor that Microsoft is going to release a thinner version of the Zune. This makes me incredibly happy, I’ll be patient and see what happens.

On a Musical DS Note

Friday, June 1st, 2007

So I’m not much of a gamer. Scratch that, lately I’ve been playing, but my preference has always been rhythm games. I was over at Kotaku today and you know, I’m getting my read on about changes and additions to the video game world, when I come across the following news:

Agetec’s Rhythm ‘N Notes

Agetec (I have no idea what other stuff they have released) announced that they are releasing an educational music game in the fall. Basically the goal of this product is to teach us how to read musical notes and understand the difference in tones, chords, etc. This to me falls under one of those Brain Age type games, where you’re learning or excercising the brain through a gaming device. I did take a music class last semester so I have to admit that I know how to read notes, but I am totally down for purchasing this game. Should I call it a game? Besides, it has a cute beetle. You can check out more news about it at Kotaku.com

P.S. The DS is such a wonderful device, thanks to my Mr. for getting it for me.
