More than Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: Etsy for Gamers

I’ve been so slow on the upkeep and these were meant to be Valentine’s Day gift guides, but guess what– as the Mr. constantly points out– you love your mate more than just on Valentine’s Day so why wouldn’t you want to gift them things even if it wasn’t the commercial day of love. So, I’ve sat through countless Etsy pages searching for affordable presents… here are top gift suggestions for gamers. You’ll excuse me as most items are targeted to women– but I did find some men’s stuff… hit the jump to check it out…

If you frequent any gaming blogs (like Destructoid, Kotaku even The Tanooki), then you’ve probably spotted the prints located above. I myself have not only blogged about them before, but I even gave one away! It’s almost 2 years later and these prints continue to be afforable, cute and video game themed! The prints above are just three of many designs. They measure 5″x7″ and are printed on the pages of vintage books.

The average cost of these prints is $11, unless you’re getting a set of three, those go for about $32 for the set. And, you can even up the ante and have them framed– that’s what I’d do. I’d suggest something like this frame. You can head on over to Fort Awesome Studios to purchase these.

Still on the subject of video game prints, I recommend Lauren Gregg’s Video Game Nerd print. I’ve been longing to own this print myself, and $25 is not a bad price at all– except for having to pay rent and crap. The difference between this print and the ones from Fort Awesome is that there are only 100 of these in existence. I believe Fort Awesome keeps an open run because people really do like his print, but Gregg has only created 100 prints and they each come signed by her. Also, she was a participant of the New Moon show, and that automatically bumps her up to a different level of cool. This 11 x 14 giclee print is on archival matte paper and she agrees with me about having it framed. Head on over to her Etsy Shop to purchase it.

Bags, bags, bags! I have so many bags that I really shouldn’t be looking at anything bag related– but I spotted this and thought someone else might dig it and give it a home. There really isn’t a lot of information about the materials used, or how the printing was done, but it seems to measure about 12″ in height by about 17″ in width. I’m making the approximate measurements by the photo of the male model carrying it. The bag costs $84 and was created by TukTukShop.

Since it’s video game debut, I’ve wanted to own a Little Big Planet Sackboy– and I’ve seen several Sackboys for sale– but this is one of the lower priced ones with what looks to be great quality. This Sackboy measures about 10″ and is handmade by mpoust7 who is selling him for $30.

As of lately, I’ve been downloading so many things, and working on some projects, that I’ve managed to use up all but 20gigs of memory. I’m also looking to update my Vista to Windows7 and am going to need to purchase an external harddrive– well guess what I found on Etsy? The image above is of a classic NES cartridge re-purposed to be the outer case of an external harddrive! I know it feels a bit odd to purchase these kind of items in shops that aren’t chains who can refund your money without a problem if something is wrong, but looking at 8BitMemory’s feedback, he’s got 68 ratings and a 100% positive score– that has to count for something right?

According to 8BitMemory, the internal memory comes in a selection of sizes. They currently have a 500g drive listed, but also stock 320g and 640g drives. They come with their own USB cord and don’t require additional power sources. What’s even better is that if you don’t like Super Mario Bros., they can use any game you wish to be the enclosure. This is a great way to preserve some classic video game history. The 500GB drive is currently in stock for $139.99.

I’m going to sound like such an iPhone fan girl when I write the following; you know what’s better than owning an iPhone? Getting to deck it out in geeky stuff– like the OG GameBoy case that seller YummyPocket has in stock. This iPhone case (or as YummyPocket writes: Can be used for other gadgets too) is currently selling for $25 and I love it!

This last one is being posted with my Mr. in mind. Resident Evil is one of his absolutely favorite video game series of all time. I debated between posting it with the video game suggestions, or the jewelry only post– but I have a ton of jewelry suggestions to post that I didn’t want it to get lost. Players of the game will recognize that this is the T-Virus, created by the Umbrella Corporation and responsible for most mutations of the enemies in the series. This pendant measures about 1 1/4″, comes with an 18″ chain is only costs $12! Good job AestheticApocalypse!

That’s all for now… more “More than Valentine’s Day” Gift Guides will be posted soon. Hope this was somewhat helpful. =D
