Last weekend was a great weekend in art shows. It started with the London Police’s opening of Fresh Geezers at Factory Fresh, and ended with Audrey Kawasaki’s show at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. On Thursday, the IHCS crew made their way to Factory Fresh, a gallery in Bushwick that hosts many street art exhibits. This place has become one of my favorite galleries in Brooklyn, and one I’m not so hesitant to visit. Now I sound like a snob.

TLP and GALO (31)

Anyway, I knew The London Police (TLP) would be on hand at the show, and sure enough, as soon as I showed up– I spotted the men who make up the talented duo. Then again, if I had any doubt of who they were (which, before the show I did), all I needed to do was turn to their Massively Escaping from the Newest of Yorks piece (photo above) and I could spot them on the lower right corner. Or, I could’ve headed to the back and watched the two short film they were playing in the pop-up cinema. One of the films focused on GALO, while the other focused on TLP– both of which I enjoyed very much.

So, what’d I think of the show. I thought it was great! This space is giant, and the perfect location for both featured artists. I learned that although Galo’s style is not one that I am fond of, I very much respect what he does. He covered the entire backyard section of the gallery with his character, something I know I cannot do and I feel requires loads of talent and skill. I, along with the Mr., was also very impressed with his textures. It’s worth seeing in person, as I find it difficult to describe.

TLP and GALO (29)

In regards to TLP, I kept asking myself, how do they create perfect circles every time?!! My original guess was that they used templates or something, but what I saw in the video said differently. Although they work with markers, their lines are impeccable. They also create some amazing shadows, and even take reflections into account– something that was most noticeable to me on their Stay Tuff New York piece. Since the Mr. is a huge Ghostbusters fan, he of course loved this piece the most. If only I had $5,555– I would’ve totally purchased it.

If you’re in New York, this is a definite must see. You get to see the works of two similar, yet incredibly different and unique artists who have shown their works all over the world. You can take a look at the slide show above, but believe me when I say, that photos just don’t do the pieces any justice. The show will be up until January 10th. If you’ve got any question, you can contact the gallery by clicking the link.
