This weekend at Gallery Nucleus, the Street Fighter Tribute show made its debut. I wanted to blog about it sooner, but I think I needed to deal with the fact that it wasn’t next to me first. =) I personally am a SHITTY Street Fighter player, especially the latest release SFIV– I’m a professional loser. heehee. But, I will admit that I love seeing my friends play, especially when they pull off some ultimate combos. Hit the jump to see my favorite pieces of the show– and be aware, many are still available :

Seeing as how I’ve been a huge fan of Luke Chueh since I was introduced to his Possessed, this was an obvious choice. Funny enough, I recently acquired the OG Possessed and the first comment the Mr. made was in reference to the devil and how he looked like he was playing the Atari system. This piece has sold, and although I couldn’t afford it anyway it makes me really sad.

I love this piece of Sakura so much. The sutle colors and the modest look to this fierce lady are what continue to call for my attention. This piece was created by Mari Inukai and cost $900 bucks. If this piece (though it’s worth the price tag if not more) were just $600 cheaper, I’d get it. Aren’t I a cheap ass? Not really, I just keep buying loads of things lately. I may need to save up to get it.

Although I don’t favor this character at all, this Dhalsim piece by Rhode Montijo seems to capture an innocence that is not visible in the character– in my opinion, of course. I do however, get reminded of the skulls around his neck and what they represent, and the fact that Rhode Montijo chose to present him in a child state makes me love this piece.  This piece is also still available and I want!!! PLEASE!!

I don’t like when people turn Chun Li, a strong and powerful independent woman, into an over-sexualized glamour girl. This piece borders that fine line, simply because I’m aware that he could’ve really gone a much more revealing way– but I really LOVE his Blanka. This piece is available and costs $1900. By the way, Bobby Chiu [the artist] is responsible for one of my favorite illustrations: Whale Boy
