I’m not sure if NYC residents have noticed, but we’ve got plenty of shows to keep us busy in the month of August. I thought I’d make a rundown of all the shows (which I’ve blogged about before) and whether or not I shall be around. First up, Julie West’s Sickly Sweet taking place this Friday at My Plastic Heart.

Best part? I was able to score an interview with Julie (thanks to the wonderful peeps at MPH) and will hopefully be available during the show, but I’ll share a link when it is posted. Yay! It was loads of fun talking to her and hope that you all come out and see her. This has definitely been added to my calendar. Yay!

Next up is ToyQube‘s 4th Anniversary Party. If you’ve been to this site when it used to be “sakiwrotewhat.com,” then you’ll remember me posting about my very first designer toy show back in August of 2007. It was in fact, ToyQube’s 3rd Anniversary and Kaniza celebration. Oh my, when I think about that show I get embarassed. There were numerous artists there whose names I didn’t even know– plenty has changed since then.

Anyway– I will not be attending this year’s celebration. I am finally leaving NYC for a bit and going down to Florida to hang with Colette [Tomopop]. I am quite bummed that I won’t get to celebrate with Keith and friends the sucess of not only the shop and toys, but the launch of his new clothing collection [Artist Proof]. Take pictures and share please.

Following Keith’s blow-out, that’s how it plays out in my head, is APW’s House of Liu custom show. I’ve shown you Charuca’s sneak peek and loved it. I am definitely going to this show so feel free to say hello. I do warn you though, the space is small… so be prepared to stick in the elbows.

Immediately proceeding APW’s show is Deth P. Sun at Giant Robot. I will admit that the reason this is going up with the designer toys is because Colette is a big fan and thought of her when I got news of his show today. I think I’m definitely going, since I want to try to get something for my friend— but there is a pending comitment. I shall update my status when it has been decided. In the meantime, take a deep breath to calm down from all the excitement that’s coming our way. I highly recommend all of the shows.
