A Video: Pause

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Pause from Aaron Sjogren on Vimeo.

The next two posts are going to be a little artsy in an “lets appreciate the contributions that random people bring to the world” kind of way. Here, a video titled: Pause, created by a member in the vimeo community. It places a frame on the spot and pauses a moment in frame. I thought it was quite peaceful and the music added a soothing touch to it.

It seems this video community has only recently emerged onto the scene and I love it. No offense to youtube, as I have posted lots of great videos from the site, but I just don’t like it. It’s open to too many “boneheads” and I’m tired of everyone wasting countless amount of hours watching videos without a purpose. [I'm being rather harsh, aren't I?]

Vimeo however, has a flickr feel to it. People should know I’m obsessed with flickr. Therefore, to me the comparison of these video sites are like comparing photobucket to flickr. Plus, vimeo has HD! If you want a more “serious” community, I recommend you check it out.

Mini Di Di and Mei Mei’s

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

First was the announcement of the Shaolin Monks, now Veggiesomething x CrazyLabel has announced the upcoming release of Di-Di and Mei-Mei, in shrunken form! They’ll stand 3″ tall and they will look cuter than they ever did. There’s a change though, because the figures above are exclusive to the Taipei Toy Festival. What’s the difference? The Tapei exclusives have orange accents instead of red and the characters are in a different language. When I asked Andy if they’d be available in the states, he said:

The classic edition featuring red accents will be available worldwide starting July. However, for the TTF exclusive in orange accents, there are 50 sets available in Taipei Toy Festival only.

Oh noes!! Well, I’m not completely heartbroken, as I’ll still be able to get the red accent minis. Yay!! Thanks for the heads up Andy, and once more, I love your production pieces soooOOOo much!

My First Remote Control Zombie

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

What would make Zombies cool? Controlling them with a remote control. While not as good as a Fido zombie, it will have to do until the zombie apocalypse comes. Not bad for $19.99.

House of Liu- Shaolin Monks

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Last night Andy Woo set free images of their upcoming Shoalin Monks. There will be two monks released onto the world. The Student (orange) and Disciple (gray). There will be 700 students released and only 100 disciples, which so happens to be the figure I want. What are the odds huh? I hope I am able to get him.

Huck Pulse

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Huck’s taken over Vinyl Pulse today, oh noes!!! Run for your lives! I’m kidding, so far the man is doing great, but he sure is pimping his stuff. He knows it, I’m just aggreeing. [tee-hee] Anyway, the perks of him running the site today, he dropped news of his upcoming “negative” skullhead dunny. It’s the same as the skullhead dunny I previously posted about, except, the colors are inverted. They’ll be up for grabs on Friday on his ebay shop for the price of $600 a pop!

Wii Fit Launch

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Okay, so technically, today was the Wii Fit launch in the states– but tomorrow Nintendo will be hosting a Wii Fit event in Central Park. Where do you think I’m going right after work? Central Park!!

The event beings at 8a.m. and will last till 5p.m. at the Merchants Gate in Central Park, which is located at the intersection of Central Park West, South, Columbus Circle and Broadway.

Is anyone else planning on going? Unfortunately none of my friends can go because of work and/or finals. If you’re in the area, message me! I’ve got a twitter [sakiwaki], tweet me and we’ll meet up! [info via.]

TV: Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

And so, it is here! The revised trailer for Dollhouse, Joss Whedon’s upcoming television show (located after the jump). Don’t know who Joss Whedon is? I’m sure you do, you just didn’t realize he’s the man responsible for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS), Angel and Firely!! I am extremely excited to hear that he is returning to the small screen, and am reluctantly celebrating the news as past experience with his shows= great shows getting canceled by stoopid television networks.

So what’s Dollhouse going to be about? Whedon explains:

“Dollhouse is a suspense drama about a girl who can have any personality except her own.” So it’s part Alias and part Quantum Leap, “because Echo is literally changing who she is,” he continues. “She gets into people’s lives a little bit.”

I’m interested to see how the plot unfolds. So far, according to dollverse.com, they have already planned 13 episodes and hope to continue strong to 22 episodes for a full season. The season, which is to begin January 2009, will also have longer episodes than normal. If you’re a “regular” non-tivo/dvr watcher, you know how annoying it is to waste 18 minutes worth of an hour on commercials. It seems that FOX plans on expanding to 50 minutes (therefore, 10 minutes of commercials) instead of the normal 42 minutes. This is great minutes, I suppose if FOX end up canning it, at least I’ll get 8 more minutes worth of goodness per episode.

Finally, the additional excitement for the show comes from the people they have cast so far. Eliza Dushku (Faith from BtVS) will play the role of Echo, one of the “dolls”, and Helo from Battlestar Galactica (Tahmoh Penikett) is going to be the obsessed FBI agent who’s trying to uncover this organization!! I’m glad Helo’s got a job lined up after this year’s BSG season finale. *cries* Also, though not in the trailer Amy Acker (aka Winifred Burkle from Angel) is also said to be in the show. I know for sure that Dushku and Penikett are going to be series regulars. Yay for them. If you want to follow the progress, you can subscribe to Dollverse for all the Dollhouse news. Now hit the jump for the latest (revamped) trailer. (more…)

Tonight: Tim Biskup at the Jonathan Levine Gallery

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Today is the public opening for Tim Biskup’s second solo show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery.

The artist returns for his second solo show at the gallery, having created a series of new paintings on canvas and wood panel. In conjunction with The Artist In You, Biskup will also release a limited edition book by the same title, in which he verbally explores the ideas presented visually in his new collection of work.

I am all types of excited to meet him in person. I’m hoping that I’ll actually be able to talk to him since I have a crush on the man and will most likely be a total fangirl. Hope to see you there.

Raving Rabbids!

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

[Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia & Rayman Raving Rabbids]

I are green with ENVY right now. Yeah, I wrote “are” and felt like a pirate when I wrote it too! Anyway, I’ve known about Ubisoft releasing the Rabbids in vinyl form. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about them in time to buy them when they were available on their site, but my Mr. managed to get one on ebay, which I always want to steal! Anyway, GayGamer posted his latest Raving Rabbids swag and I could feel my heart being crushed into pieces because it’s yet another set I won’t get to own. They’re awesome, and of what I know, not for sale.

I want, I want, I want!!!
