Mirror Universe

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Who’s a Star Trek fan? I’m not so much a Star Trek fan as much as I think this show is amazing. I’m sorry all you “Trekkies” who I’ve crushed by the previous revelation, but when I say the following show is amazing, I’d say that even non-fans like myself can really take notice of the level of work that went into the creation of the peices. Devorah Sperber is the woman in charge of bringing some of the iconic characters to life through spools of thread and beads. Check out some of the images and then click the link to get some more information.

The show went up the weekend of March 20th. I know it’s been about a month since it’s opening, but the show will be up until April 26th at the Caren Golden Fine Art gallery [539 W. 23rd Street]. [Mirror Universe]

About the new additions.

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

When MPH first released the image of their tokidoki exclusives, [see here], I was uber excited. Like this::smile:

Then I found out that in order to get the newest additions, I was going to have to submit myself, and wallet, to blind boxes again. What’s that mean? These three additions will be included in the regular blind boxes that were originally released. That means I might have to get 7 latte’s again before I get a rice milk. Clearly, my smile turned into this:

doh!

I feel like such a fool. People of the world, if you’ve been trying to comment on my site this week, and weren’t able to, you can now! I’m sorry about that, a “spam” plugin I was using seized to function and wasn’t letting anyone comment. SORRY! Feel free to comment and enter the Murakami contest.

:grin:Thanks John for the heads up!

Upcoming Release: Huck Gee Style *updated*

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Huck. I believe he’s infamous for making something, releasing (though not always) a picture and the selling it like hot cakes through his ebay shop. Well, this Friday our awesome, yet overpriced artist [yeah, I said it!] is going to be dropping yet another piece. From the teaser it looks like a dunny, but I have no clue what the front looks like. If the numbers are any indication, be prepared for lots of tears since there only seems to be 10 available. Anybody got more info?

According to Vinyl Pulse, the 8″ custom Dunnys (only 10) will cost $600 this Friday at noon on his ebay shop. [image taken from VP]

So what were they brewing?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I’d known when MPH posted the above image that their surprise was going to be Tokidoki’s Sandy in a platinum colorway. I was excited for the release, because Sandy is actually one of my favorite characters, which by the way, I’ve recently noticed I don’t own. She’s green and spiky, uh– that just automatically means she rules. How do you think I reacted when I saw the latest photo release?

She looks so wonderful in silver! Even more exciting is the addition of more moofia blind boxes. I knew they were going to be releasing a pink milk figure, she was printed on the inside of Mozzarella’s packaging, so it was about time, but I totally did not expect the rice milk and half-&-half. AWESOME!!

So now, I ask the inevitable questions: Who’s going to NYCC? And when are we meeting up?!! I’ll be roaming around all weekend, because I can.

Make a Papercraft!

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Got some time? Then how about you print this snes papercraft and “build” your own old school console. Oh, if you’ve got time, make two and sent it my way, I’d love to use it as a prop in my photos. Click the image to enlarge and print. Thanks to deviant art user ryo007 for creating it and sharing.

Soopa Show!

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I have a file on my computer titled: things to post, and everyday I clear it up just a little bit. If you don’t believe me, message me and I’ll send you a pic. ^_^

Anyway, The Soopa Show flyer has been sitting in this folder for a while now. I didn’t want to post too early because then I’d forget to remind people and wanted to make sure there were no changes. When thatgirl posted a custom Soopa that was added to her flickr group, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to post about the show.

Erick Scarecrow has unleased blank soopa’s to various artists and on April 19th, he’ll be letting us see what they’ve come up with. If you’re in the city for NYCC, I recommend you make this show. I for one was debating between the Soopa show and the Buff show and since I’ve already had the pleasure of both meeting and talking to Buff (+ my sketch), I figured it’d only be right that I travel to Queens and see what people have come up with. Visit Esc-Toy LTD. for more.

Comic Book Kubrick Cars

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

While on the search for tokidoki bags, one in particular, I stopped by Yoyamart and ended up seeing these Kubrick Mobiles. They have 5 different designs, but I especially love the Batman and Superman designs. Unfortunately, each design costs $24.95, if you want one for yourself click the link at the bottom.

Munny: Chicken Little Edition

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

It’s quite possible that other people in the interweb have already shared this, since it’s dated April 2007, but I just found him and thought the custom was too amazing. You can hardly tell it’s a munny, had it not been for the backwards body and hands– and the artist telling us it was a munny once helped too. I love it!!!

Did anyone notice?

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

I saved this image on my computer because it seems no one was as excited as I was to see that TokyoPlastic is releasing a new 4″ geisha! She’s yellow, which technically makes no sense in terms of the Drum Machine flash video, or their other creations, but it’s still a geisha to add to the collection. I previously posted about their upcoming release with MPH, this wasn’t it, but TokyoPlastic are simply a great team and I’m excited for new releases.
