KidRobot Curiosity

KidRobot NY is my second favorite designer toy shop in my area. MPH is the proud owner of the #1 spot in my heart, can’t help it, I’m a total fangirl. KidRobot- though I love their deco style- is a little too mainstream for me. Due to my latest experience at their Greene St. location, I’ve held some resentment towards the mean employee there, therefore, it’s still a fresh wound. With all this aside though, KidRobot happens to be responsible for introducing me to the world of designer toys through their dunnys, so whether I like it or not, they’ve always played an important role for me in this scene.*

When KidRobot moved from location, I hadn’t recieved their newsletter and was instantly heartbroken because I thought I would no longer get to steal souls from featured artist’s signings. Then I realized they had a temporary home on Greene Street and I didn’t worry any longer. Apparently, their Prince St. shop was going through some renovations, hopefully to make it larger, it’s tiny! Anyway, a couple of days ago Nakanari posted a photo of his latest custom dunny. It was for KidRobot NY he said. Last night, he posted a front view of his latest creation, again specifying it was for KidRobot NY. I knew he’d submitted a piece for KidRobot Miami (if I’m correct) and thought nothing of it. Then MAD posted a custom munny (one of my favorite canvases along with the Mad*l), and curiosity began to brew.

Are these customs just going to be on display? Will they be for sale? Will KidRobot be having a custom show? I’m not sure, I just know they’re going to be on display at their grand re-opening this Thursday.
