As I had previously updated, Friday was Nakanari and Dave “Outta My Mind” Quiles’ Techno Babble show at MPH. Though I didn’t arrive early, since I had to go to a meeting, I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to a steady flow of visitors coming in and out of the shop.

As soon as I walked through the door, I knew I was in for a treat. The colors were vibrant, the collection was outstanding and the artists were really humble people. I’ve gone to a number of shows since I first developed my interest for this scene, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the level of work that these guys displayed. Granted, Nakanari did participate in a number of collaborations, but like I mentioned before there was an outstanding number of pieces available for the fans.

There were dozens of digital prints stretched on canvas available for purchase, along with 1 (if I’m correct) painting. Nakanari produced hand-cast molds of a handful of characters and also had custom Munnys available; along with a 20″ custom Dunny. One of my favorite pieces was his “toy” as he called it, not a plushie. I’m holding the little guy (Spiki) in the photo below. He has bendable arms that will be very useful when you want to pose him for photos.

Dave produced some pretty intense pieces too. He created some amazing pieces with plexie glass. Yep, that’s right, plexie glass. He explained that a laser cutter assissted him, but the edges were sharp and on point and his colors were luminous. Check out some of his pieces.

I am proud to say that I purchased the Alien Toast. He’s technically a plushie, but he’s bolted into a plexie glass cast. He’s so awesome. I wish the tentacles moved. You should see the detail in all the pieces. I suggest if you’re in the area you stop by MPH (210 Forsyth St.) and see the pieces for yourself. You really can’t go wrong. If you want to see more images from the show, check my Techno Babble Flickr Set, and for more info on the artists, please visit: [weloveagiagi]
