I’ve become rather addicted to reading and subscribing to blogs in the past year. The additional introduction to Google Reader was one that I really needed in my life, and can’t figure out how I was keeping track of blogs before that. Anytime I stumble upon [not the bookmarking tool] a blog, I just click their rss feed and I’m connected forever. Well, at least until I decide I’m bored or the writer decides to stop writing. On Monday, clicking from one link to the next, I came across a new “toy” blog/ soon to feature a forum. Tomopop! I’d never heard of this site before, and after some digging, more like clicking through more links, I reached their “homeland” or the agency in charge of making their site a possibility. [Modern Method] It turns out, that they’re the people responsible for bringing us Destructoid, or the “look and design” of Destructoid. If you don’t know what it is, click the link. It’s a gaming blog/forum. If you play Bomberman on XB360 you’d also know their mascot’s costume is up for grabs in the game. I love it!!
Back to the post at hand… I am quite impressed and excited about Tomopop. Mainly because it’s not really focusing on upcoming toys or artist’s toys, etc. They’re not a new Vinyl Pulse, Plastic and Plush, etc. They’re simply there to offer a space where all toy collectors can feel comfortable about “not wanting to grow up!” Granted, I think that’s the reason why these other sites exists, but check out part of their mission statement:
So what is Tomopop about? Well, the best way to describe it is an enthusiast cutting edge toy blog. By enthusiast, I mean something very specific: This blog is not about immediate news, although we may post it from time to time. This blog is run by (and will be read by) hardcore enthusiasts, the core word there that I want to stress to you being enthusiasm. We would like for Tomopop to be a place where we can all enjoy our inability to grow up when it comes to our toy collections. With features such as Big Kid of the Week focusing on our readers’ passion for collecting, we invite you to be as much a part of Tomopop as we are.
So if you’re all about the toy blogs, add this one to your bookmarks, I’m already liking what I’m reading. Plus, you haven’t missed much as the site went live just last month [January]. You’ve got time to catch up and get involved in the forums and conversations.
P.S. very cute mascot!
