Keep it Ninja: the Evening with Shawnimals and Friends
Monday, December 10th, 2007
Friday was Shawnimal’s Keep it Ninja release party. It was over at MPH (which will forever stand for My Plastic Heart). I arrived a bit late to the show, but not for the party!! When I got there I was flushed with the excitement of not only meeting both Shawn and Dacosta, but all the people that I haven’t seen since God knows how long. The show was packed with Shawn’s new Zombie Ninja and Super Ninja, both were hand made. There were also felt collages available for sale and small prints on wood. Part of the celebration was the release of the new micro ninja plushies. I got myself one. I would normally purchase a dozen or more until I got all the ones I want, but I finally got the chance to pick up my ROBOTS!!
The night was full of random conversations and my brain was simply not performing at top speed that night. I had to go to a panel about Latin American relations with the US. While I was walking around taking pictures I kept walking into conversations. My favorite was when the men were talking about the Kid Robot labbit stools. I walked in at the word stool, so I thought they were talking about regular stools. Someone made a joke that I had one in my home and I claimed to have 3!! Problem was, I meant three regular stools not labbits, which cost about $1000 each. I cleared that up, but the same kind of situations kept happening all night.
While I was at MPH I was talking to Dacosta. He and my boyfriend were having the infamous mac vs pc conversation. Dacosta rooting for Mac while my boyfriend, for PC. Vince and I stood at the sidelines until they came up with Excel and Numbers. I am a total Excel lover and hearing Dacosta talk about numbers got Vince and I excited in ways only nerds can understand. hahaha. Dacosta is such a down to earth kind of fellow, and to be quite honest- based on the pieces he has put out there (DCTO’s pictured above) you can tell how humble he is. We were supposed to sit for an interview, but when we went out to dinner (22 people to be exact) we got caught up with a bunch of other conversations.
I’ll write about the rest of the night and Saturday tomorrow. I’m sleepy. Classes are almost done people, almost!
