Rock Band Vs. GH3

Rb vs GH3

Well people, Turkey Day is officially over and though I personally don’t celebrate the holiday (I’m Mexican, Pilgrims didn’t assassinate and rape my people) I do hope everyone enjoyed their meals. About my note, though I don’t celebrate the holiday I don’t mean to suggest that I’m not grateful for the people in my life and the blessings that I continue to receive from the higher being. Moving on, I have officially played both Rock Band (RB) and Guitar Hero 3 (GH3) to compare the games and share with you all. The good thing about the national holidays and working with the DOE is that I get these days off. Woo hoo! So we (my boyfriend and brother) played RB to our heart’s content. So here’s the skinny. PostSecret

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I’m not sure how many people in the blog-o-sphere have ever stopped by this site, but I have recently become acquainted with it, and to be quite honest, I’m hooked! The purpose of the site is to allow people to share their inner most secrets. You’re supposed to send in a postcard (designed by you) which depicts and image relating to your secret and actually write what your secret is. I really love the concept of this site. I know that I have some secrets in me that I will take to my grave. I have never ever shared these secrets and I’m not sure I ever will. This site however, would be a great way to relieve some of the stress that we’re burdened with when keeping a secret SECRET. Check out some of the most recent secrets:

I must admit that I am truly intrigued by some of the things that people share. Last week I saw something like, “I forgive the child that ruined my life.” These aren’t just jokes being sent in, some people really are sharing intense things with the world. If you want to check out more of these, I myself have subscribed to the blog, follow the link: PostSecret

The Blog Readability Test

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

According to the Blog Readability Test site, you need to read at an Elementary School level in order to understand the information I provide you with. I consider this a good thing since I want people to understand what I’m talking about, but it does unfortunately also leave me feeling a little self-conscience about my writing abilities. I’m not too hung up on it because I rated my newest blog, which will become an additional outlet for this site when I feel like sharing but guilty for bombarding you with posts, and it rated at a GENIUS level!

On that note, I might as well introduce my additional blog. I find that lately I’m all over the place on the web. I want to post about upcoming movies, vinyls, reviews, random online stuff, etc. and though the readers choose to visit a blog or not I feel as though I may be posting too much? I’m not sure, it could just be me and my crazy head, but I have provided the link to the blogspot blog on the site. I will post random things I find on the web. For instance, job opportunities on craigslist or ebay auctions or I don’t know. I may decided to delete it in the future, but for now it exists and it’s there. Check it out if you’d like. Danke for everything, and I hope you can understand what I wrote about, if you do you’re reading at a Genius Level. hahahahaha.

My Word Coach

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I’ve noticed lately that my vocabulary level has decreased in the last 2-3 years. I blame this on the sheltered life I had growing up. Being a first-generation immigrant child forced me to grow up and mature a lot faster, which meant, I never loosened up. I always needed to be on top of the game and excel in any aspect of my life. When Adelphi University pulled my financial aid even when I met their 3.3+ requirement, reality slapped me in the face and forced me to wake and enjoy my surroundings. Unfortunately, I think I’ve been enjoying the “relaxed” life way too much because I feel as though I have forgotten how to write. I know it sounds weird, but I use to have a thesaurus in my mind when it came to words (poetry and fiction writer that I am) and now, not so much.

Back to the point of this post. I was ‘chillin’ at home, my professor has gone to the Bahamas and canceled classes to enjoy his time away from us, when a commercial came on for My Word Coach. My eyes instantly lit up and I knew I needed the game in my life. I’m such a geek and really enjoy these “brain training” games. Unfortunately I can only enjoy them for a while since I get busy or buy a new game and move along to something else. The game is designed to help you with your vocabulary. I believe I may have found the solution to the problem I think I have. The game was released Nov. 6th [I had no idea] and has a price tag of $29.99. I shall let you know what I think of the game by Wednesday. KK!

Blackle’s Saving the World

Monday, November 19th, 2007

This year, in comparison to any other year, I have barely participated in any volunteer work or community affairs. On that note, I don’t get myself caught up in it too much because I am working with today’s youth and that alone makes me feel like I’m helping to change the world. I do, however, make a conscious effort to re-use and recycle materials in my everyday life. In my efforts to help our environment, whenever I spot something online that could help a little bit, I try to spread it to as many ears [eyes]. Today I was on one of my Spanish sites, yes people-being Mexican brings the power of the Spanish language to my world, and I read about Blackle. Has anyone heard of this site? It’s the black version of Google, check it out:

Blackle.com

I Googled blackled it and the following information came up:

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. “Image displayed is primarily a function of the user’s color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen.” Roberson et al, 2002

In January 2007 a blog post titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year proposed the theory that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair bit of energy due to the popularity of the search engine. Since then there has been skepticism about the significance of the energy savings that can be achieved and the cost in terms of readability of black web pages.

So please people, try to use the site and save some energy. This seems simple enough, don’t you agree?

MARC

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Good morning America (and friends). Currently, I should really be hitting the sack, but I haven’t had enough of the internet world. There’s a couple things I want to post about, but it seems that there aren’t enough hours in the day to share news with you. I want to justify the following post with, “I’m such a girls sometimes!” One of my rss feeds is set on ThisNext’s site. I’m not sure if any of you visit this website, but it’s one of those referral sites. [As in, if you want people to go and purchase an item that you purchased or are totally in love with, you can recommend it to them by posting about them. This doesn't mean you write a blog, you just add an image and a link on where to get it, if you choose to you can add a little note about why you recommend it- but its not necessary.] A while ago I came across this Marc watch pendant and I wanted to own it, but unfortunately the 2 locations provided to purchase the watch were sold out. Damn you Nordstrom and Bloomingdales! Today I’ve gone on both an inter-web search and an ebay search and I have found it. Check out the pic:

To be quite honest if I got the star or the circle I’d be just as happy. The horrible news is that I don’t have any dinero to purchase it myself. Currently these retail for $125 at Bloomingdales. Thanks to a surprise I’m setting up, I can’t afford till Christmas, maybe, since I do need to do some holiday shopping. But, I’ve found the star for sale currently bidding for $51.99. I really want it but should I go for it? I’m not sure… The better question I will pose is, does anyone want to buy it for me? Check out the eBay posting: MARC

Finally!!

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I am finally able to bring you news of two upcoming shows, and I have to admit I’m more excited than usual. I shall write about them and my excitement in the order the shows will be presented.

Keep it Ninja

Is that Shawnimals? Yes!! He shall be in my neck of the woods (or metropolis) on December 7th at MPH. Oh gosh, thats two loves in one! I heart the Wee Ninja and I love MPH even more for hooking me up with my vinyl fix. The best thing, its on a Friday so I don’t have to rush from school to try to make it there on time. If you guys are in the city stop by and if you spot me, say hello! I can’t wait to get a sketch in my book. Next up:

Kaniza Release

[Image via Soop De Jur (aka Dacosta's blog)]

ToyQube is going to have a Kaniza Release Party!! I’m not sure what artists are going to be there, but according to Dacosta’s blog they have a list on their site [one I could not find]. I do know that Dacosta himself is going to be there and I can’t wait to meet him and take his soul. =) I don’t mean get “rid” of him, I was once again referring to my sketch book. Flushing is rather far, but this time [unlike the last show I went to there] I’m a lot more prepared. I can say that that weekend is going to be super busy. Thursday I have a play, then the Shawnimals, then off to meet Dacosta!!

I’m in heaven right now.

♥ Saki

[I will add on my calendar later, right now I must get dressed to have a Scene It showdown with my Mr.'s family]

Amazon is the Holiday’s #1

customers vote

The following is a story I repeatedly told my friends when I didn’t win Amazon’s crazy deal for a 360.

“I heard about this thing that Amazon was doing. Apparently they picked a bunch of different items and dropped the price down to a ridiculous rate and let people vote which item should win the round. Once the item was picked, people tried their best to click their mouse at the right time to purchase whatever item won and was available for the ridiculously low price. I couldn’t believe it! But, when they told me the 360 was a choice, I logged on. It won, and then the sales began but I didn’t click fast enough. It was only $100!!”

Yeah, unfortunately last year I couldn’t win myself a 360 for the unbelieveably low price of one-hundred bucks, but this year I know about the deals and am prepared for the voting. I have excersized these fingers and their clicking skills have improved dramatically. I kid, it’s not really like that. But it helps a lot that I know the process and that today was officially the beginning of this year’s voting rounds. I’ve already placed my votes, and I’m excited to see whether I win any of these items. If you want to vote and try to get some gifts at ultra-cheap prices check out the Amazon Customer’s Vote page. Good Luck and wish me luck too! Thanksgiving hasn’t arrived and already I’m thinking Christmas trees.

Zune Originals

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Currently, as I sit here and write this post I am downloading the new Zune software. I am so excited to finally see how “pretty” it looks. I’m also looking forward to shopping wirelessly and syncing wirelessly too. By the way, I went back in time today to show my younger brother the Microsoft Table, still so awesome, and this update alone is a sign of what’s to come in the future of technology. Anyway, I keep looking at the new Zune’s and I must admit they’re soOo pretty! The best part is the Zune Originals site. This site allows people to engrave either words, words and art, or just art. What I found even more exciting is the fact that Tado has some art available for people to engrave on their devices, take a look:

Zune Customs

How I want one of these, but at the same time I really do like the iTouch (iPod Touch).  In the image I highlighted Tado’s design. Some of you may know him from the vinyl world. My Mr. should know him because he’s the one who designed the other GID Mad*L that he wants. If only the 80g came in different colors too. I feel like being girly pink/red? Anyway, I don’t have cash to spend anytime soon, so I don’t need to worry right now. I did read that they may make this available for the 30g ones?

GamaGo’s Deathbot is gonna get you!

Deathbot

Well, I’ve been waiting to hear news about Deathbot’s release and now its official. He’s hitting the stores next week! Woo hoo!! This is way too exciting. My Mr. bought me Tigerlily a while back and this wooden killer robot will be perfect for my collection. Oh, I can’t wait to get him. If you want to pick him up yourself, check out GamaGo’s website, though I’m not 100% sure if they are going to list them. I will definitely be dropping my “dealers” a line to make sure the hold one for me. I might just tell them to hold 2… but I’ll let you know what I decide.

**LOOK: My Mr. and I are looking to giveaway a surprise. Look back sometime later this week to see what it is.**

p.s. If you’ve noticed, I’m trying to make some changes on the site, very minimal things. Bare with me if I put the site in maintenance mode sometimes. Thanks!
