Ron English

Well Ladies and Gents, last night Vinyl Pulse announced that Ron English would be having a show/party at ToyTokyo’s Showroom. I wanted to confirm it was open to the public before posting about it. When I return to get my answer, it seems the post has been updated with a date correction. What I thought would be next Friday, which would interfere with the Shawnimals love I have bottled up inside, is actually scheduled for TOMORROW, November 30th.

According to vinyl pulse, the following items will be available at the show:

new XMAS MC Supersize (25 pieces on hand), new Be@rbrick, Son of Pop book , Son of Superhero print portfolio, Dissect Print ed., Cowgirl canvas pin-up and 10 new poster designs.

I’m not sure whether I’m going to the show or not. The show will run from 6-10pm. If anyone is in the city, stop by. Hopefully I’ll make it, but tomorrow I’m hoping to get some errands done.

MIMIJUDE continues to RULE!

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

I wrote about these cute t-shirts a while back that featured an irresistibly cute little girl named Mimi. Well, I got a comment from Kris [creator of the wonder that is the sadistic little character] telling me the following:

There are new MIMIJUDE tees available in the store for your viewing pleasure! Also have a few left from the last run and marked them down for the holidays! ;o) YAH!

MIMIJUDE Roof is on FireFirst I should mention that SALES are always great in my book, so I’ll be shopping for a couple of tees soon. But, when I went to the MIMIJUDE site I also read that a portion of the sales will go to children who have lost parent’s to cancer. I was quite intrigued and read the new “about” space that Kris has added to the site [which has gotten a great new look and now has a blog!] She shares that her mother passed away 3 years after being diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, but not before making her promise that she wouldn’t let the anger over her death take over her life. This is tragic and I could never imagine losing my mother, but I admire her mother for looking out for her even in her last moments of life. Kris, Kristine for long, continued her educational career and in the process created the cartoon character that I/we would come to know as Mimi. The following is the MIMIJUDE statement:

MIMIJUDE™ was founded with the mission to provide an original, high quality product while maintaining strong community involvement.  A portion of each MIMIJUDE™ product sale is deposited to MIMIJUDE™ LOVES YOU, a fund established to annually sponsor events and peer-support programs for children who have a parent with cancer or have lost a parent to cancer, when possible specifically young ladies whose mothers have been affected by the disease.

Contributing to the sales makes the purchases all the more special. So, if you’re in the market for some new tees, go check out the sales. [MIMIJUDE SHOP]

If budget is tight but you still want to show some support, I suggest you stop by her new blog which is packed with some hilarious pictures. If Kris is reading, I should warn that I am totally stealing the MIMI and kitty pictures… hahaha! [MIMIJUDE SPEAKS]

RadioGTN is officially a Zunecast.

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Radio GTNIn case you were sleeping when Microsoft released the new Zune software updates- or are a loyal Apple disciple- one of the new additions to the “social” are podcasts. Granted, iTunes has hosted podcasts a lot longer than Zune has, making Zune late to the party, but it’s still worth celebrating. Especially now, since with the release of it’s 19th Podcast, RadioGTN has officially become a member of the Zune Podcasting community– something I will refer to as Zunecast from now on. If some recall, I “contribute” to their website, I’m using the term contribute very loosely here. The podcasts feature the voices of Grim Santo, Izzy and Yoyo. They discuss many video game related news, updates, releases, etc. It’s pretty comical if you ever get a chance to listen to it. I needed to share the news since I just downloaded their new episode through the Zune Marketplace, and officially subscribed. Yay! If you don’t have a Zune or an MP3 player period, it’s ok, just go to their site and download it to your computer.  [Radio GTN]

Boom Boom Rocket Updates

Boom Boom Rocket

Xbox Live has announced the updates for Boom Boom Rocket (BBR) and I’m dancing in my pants just thinking about playing. Things that have been changed: scoring, some translation support that doesn’t apply to the US, and support for both Guitar Controllers (GH/RB) and Dance Mats (DDR). In addition with the controller support, there will be separate leaderboards according to what controller you’re using to play the game. Personally, I might try the guitar, but I’m not dancing to BBR any time soon, I’d have a seizure if I try. Plus, Destructoid reports:

Additionally, five additional songs are being made available for the game. The tracks are free until December 16, but after that, you’re going to have to pony up 250 MS Points if you want to get down with the hits.

  • “Eine Kleine Rochtmusik”
  • “Cannon in D”
  • “Sugar High”
  • “Sting of the Bumble Bee”
  • “Explode to Joy”

Canon in D is one of my favorite classical songs, and the only one I remember how to play on the violin. I also like Sting of the Bumblebee and I can’t wait to ace these additional songs. Woohoo!

Paramore Sadness

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Last night I posted about an invitation to see some band named Paramore at the Helio Store located downtown. I extended my invitation to the masses because I didn’t know who they were and the show conflicted with my schedule. Well, life is an amazing wonder sometimes. This morning, right before leaving for work, MTV aired the video of a band whose name I’ve been trying to figure out. In a very strange way I like the vocals and the beat of the song. I was already running late, but I decided to stick around to find out the name of the band. What a surprise, the band whose name I’ve been trying to hard to figure out is PARAMORE!!! Yeah! I left my home completely bummed about the show because now I know who they are and I would’ve loved to be in a 100-people-max environment with them. Blah! If anyone else out there goes to the show, take pictures and share. Thanks.

Site Updates #?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

If you frequent the site, you may have noticed a major change this week. I have changed the look of the site. I should warn that I plan on changing the site next year, aka a couple of weeks from now, to something very similar but with less blank, white space. I am enjoying the look of the site right now. I tried to implement some holiday colors, hope you like it.

  • Anyway, the best part about changing the site is my blog stats are working again. The previous theme had a corrupt code that I couldn’t fix and wouldn’t allow BlogStats to keep track of my stats. I have no idea what my stats are like right now because I only trusted BlogStat’s data. But, I do believe I am doing well enough. I appreciate it when people stop by.
  • I am still working on adding the proper tags to my older posts, so bare with me for a bit.
  • I have changed my blogroll to take you to other sites I contribute to or places you can find me at
  • I will be adding an additional blogroll to provide you with my buddies in the blog-o-sphere world and other members I can’t get enough of. You can get a taste of the things I read every single day. I am an addict for my rss feeds. Seriously.
  • If you have any suggestions feel free to email me, look at the page tabs to find the “contact” page
  • and finally, look forward to more events. **Would you guys like me to add events that are happening in other states? At the moment I only post events in NY, because I live here, but I often know about plenty of shows in other states. Let me know.

Finally, this is a Saki update rather than a site update. The powers that are Flickr and Moo have come together to fundraise for a program similar to, Doctor’s Without Borders. They opened up a group where people can submit their holiday themed pictures and people all over the world can order a batch of cards made with your image. $1 will be donated for every order placed. Not only is this a great way to get people in the flickr community to help, but Moo will be giving away cash prizes for the best design, humor, photo, and most sold. Here is my submission go buy it!:

Happy Holidays to You

Star Wars Mimobot

We all remember when Bungie and Mimobot got together and brought us the joy of Spartan usb drives, right? If not, look up my post.Well, mimobot has now gone out of their way to bring Star Wars usb drives. I’m not a die hard fan for this movie, though I don’t mind watching it if it’s on, but I must admit that the drives look pretty kick-ass. Get more info after the jump.

Paramore at Helio

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I got this message from Helio last night, but unfortunately there are two things not working for me with the invite. The first is that I have no clue who Paramore is, do you? If so send me a link or an example of some of their music and I shall explore. The second, I’m in class during the “private” event. More like I’m on the train on my way to class. So, if you guys want to go see the band and have time, then go be one of the first 100 people on line. I do believe they prefer to have Helio customer’s only, but if they stop you, you can always say they sent you and email. =)

Paramore, the rapidly emerging band that recently wrapped up the Warped Tour and is now headlining the much sold out Riot! Tour presented by Helio, will be playing an exclusive, intimate show at Helio New York and you’re invited! The first 100 people in line at Helio New York (626 Broadway, just north of Houston) at 3pm on Wednesday, November 28 will get in to the acoustic show to see Paramore. We hope to see you there!

Also check out Paramore’s exclusive tour diaries from life on the road at www.youtube.com/heliovideo, all filmed and uploaded directly to our YouTube Channel from their Helio devices!
