They have names!

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

So on Satuday, I went to meet Mr. Tokidoki. I was excited for numerous reasons to attend the Yoyamart party, and one of them included the excitement of NEW RELEASES!! I took a picture of the new vinyls that are to be released… we didn’t know their names… but alas- the mystery has been solved. Vinyl Pulse reports that these fellas…

Tokidoki Cactus Cat Friends

…are named, Bruttino and Carina. I’m glad the mystery has been solved. I kept thinking it was Gato Spinoso and the possibility of Skeletrino (even though it wasn’t him). I love them, Carina in white, is the one I REALLY need in my life now! I think its her fish pin that makes it even more awesome. These are set to be released in late November/ early December.

tokidoki goodness!

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Hola fellow tokidoki fans. I believe that a lot of you were unable to make the commute to NYC this weekend to meet Mr. Tokidoki. It was a pleasure seeing him and though getting stickers is nothing compared the meeting the artists behind the goodness, it definitely helps with the sadness. So, after looking through all the stickers we got this weekend, my Mr. [Grim Santo] and I are giving away two bundles of stickers. One of them will contain 11 stickers, courtesy of Grim, and the other will contain 7 stickers from me! Check out the pics and see what you’d be getting…

11 stickers

7 stickers

Oh, I just noticed, 7/11. I’m too silly. Anyway, leave a comment with your real email address, which will not be seen by the public and on the 19th we’ll pick 2 people to give these away too. I know it sucks that its not 2 equal sets, but, its all the extras we had. I’ll contact you via email and send them your way. Good luck!

p.s. All stickers are vinyl stickers.

Meeting Mr. Tokidoki

Monday, October 15th, 2007

So last night, was the sequel to seeing Mr. Tokidoki. I was quite excited that he would be in YoyaMart because like I mentioned in the previous post, Sneaker Pimps turned out to be a scene I wasn’t into. I arrived at 7pm and got in at 8. I didn’t mind the wait, the weather was friendly and because of construction nearby we were able to sit on these construction columns. Once we got inside though, my bubble was slightly burst. It turns out I was waiting on one line to get on another. Oh noes! At first there was a confusion of which one was the purchasing line and which was the Simone line, but I managed to get on the right line. By the way, these girls tried to skip for a second, but I also managed to set them straight. I was excited to see the new releases, this include the Mozzarella plushy I’ve been waiting for [ her gun looks weird though] and turns out that Adios and Ciao Ciao have also been turned into plush form:

The other releases included variations of Bastardino and NEW Gato Spinoso and an unknown fella in vinyl form

Please check out my flickr to see more shots of the event. You will find the NEW New Era fitted caps for the ladies, I kept contemplating if I really wanted it, which will cost $43 and other shots of the upcoming products. I didn’t see plushy Sandy, which is odd since she’s already been announced. I wish I could’ve purchased these fellas though, I can’t wait to add them to my collection.

Continuing now to the rest of the party. The fans were greeted to water and Champagne, I had water, and then waited on line for 3 hrs. I was exhausted from the wait, but I kept looking at Simone and knew that we was so beat from all the signing. Some people took their entire collection!! Oh my gosh, the abuse. I only took my book as I want it to hold a collection of my favorite artists. When I was inches away, we were told that we had to keep it to a limit of 2 items. People still went for more, how rude!!

I was excited that he recognized me from the previous night and after he signed my book and took a picture with me, I went in for the hug. He kept giving people a handshake, me being a hug whore, was clearly in search for more. So he hugged me, and I let him be. He seems so down to earth, which is always awesome. Check out my book:

Here come the goodies… I managed to get all these stickers from both the tokidoki party and the sneaker pimps show… I am giving away 2 bundles. One that contains 7 stickers and one that contains 11… this is due to how many extras my Mr. [Grim Santo] and I had. How can you get them? Check out the next post…

About the Sneaker Pimps Show

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Friday was the Sneaker Pimps show at the Roseland Ballroom. I will begin by sharing the excitement I had to go to this show. I was excited because Simone Legno [Mr. Tokidoki] and Nas were going to be there. Mr. Tokidoki is a big highlight in my life in terms of meeting the artists that make the vinyls that keep me smiling. That was a long sentence. Nas, on the other hand, I really wanted to take a picture with him for my friend who’s a BIG fan. But, here’s what happened…

Due to circumstances out of my control, I couldn’t leave my home early enough to get a good spot on line. When I got there, my Mr. was already on line, which at the time happened to be around the corner and one block down. OMG! The craziness. We were standing for a good hour and a half maybe more, who knows for sure. The best thing, take note of the sarcasm, was the drastic change in temperature which surprised us with a shirt and light sweatshirt. When we finally got in the first thing I spotted, after getting tattooed with permanent marker poisoning, was Mr. Tokidoki!!

simone @ sneaker pimps

I should share right now, that I instantly began imagining he and I walking along Italy… Sorry about that, I was beginning to lose myself in dream again. hahaha! Anyway, I went up to him and shook his hand and told him I was a fan and tried to find out if he was doing any sketches that night. I already knew the answer, he needed to save all the sketching energy for Yoyamart… so I simply took pictures of him and the event. The walls were all covered with these gates, sneaker after sneaker was aligned throughout the ballroom. It was quite breathtaking and at the same time annoying. I thought the event would be more one-on-one with the artists. After a couple of minutes [and after having gotten a Sneaker Pimps shirts which my Mr. caught- he's so tall] I asked my Mr. if he wanted to break out.

I really wanted to see Nas, but during my escapade around the floor, people kept lighting up a “blunt”. Let me put this out there, I have loads of friends who do this on occasion. I tend to breakout whenever this gets on the scene. I don’t hate my friends for doing it, but its not my scene and I don’t like to be around it. I believe if you’re going to do it, go ahead, but don’t do it in a public venue. Ugh! All the secondhand weed smoke that came at me was disgusting. Though I was sad I couldn’t surprise my friend with a Nas autograph and photo, I needed out! So at the end of the day, I waited on line longer than being in the venue. But, I survived the night, and that’s the important thing. I don’t think I’ll be checking out anymore Sneaker Pimps shows. Oh wells.

@ the kaNO Release Party

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

So on Thursday I went to the kaNO release party held at Plan B. It just so happens that the bar is extremely close to my home, so there were no excuses. The event was to both celebrate the release of The Black Book and Citizen Kano: The Art of the Hussle. Both artists are AMAZING and to be quite honest kaNO holds a spot inside me for being pretty laid back and down to earth. I was pretty bummed out that neither artists were doing sketches, but like I mentioned in a previous post, kaNO has already hooked me up with a great sketch. I wanted to share one photo:

kaNO Release Party X

Here, he’s got his Money Grip displayed along with both; his limited edition Black Money Grip which I purchased for $25 and his Citizen Kano… which was also on sale for $25. I also purchased a shirt from Khary Randolph, which is also pretty dope but I will probably never wear it out, since its got boobies. I can’t risk being seen by my students. It is quite cool though, I shall share a picture later. Keep reading, I’ve got 2 other shows to share with you.

kaNO Release Party

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

So, I am so very close to telling you where I live with this information- but not close enough. I just read that kaNO is going to be in my neighborhood on Thursday! Check out the flyer:

Kano Opening

I must say, I almost feel like they’re catering to my needs. That is the same day as the Junko signing at KR, but I wasn’t going to make it to her signing because I’m still in class, but I can totally make this signing since I get home at 9. haha! Hope to some of you there.

kANO @ MPH

Just because I could share. That is the drawing he hooked me up with when he was at MPH. I can’t wait to see what he sketches now, though I may not bug him. Hit to jump to see details on Simone’s upcoming visit to Yoyamart on Saturday.

Junko Mizuno Signing and other things…

Monday, October 8th, 2007

If you’re into urban vinyls, then I’m sure you’ve already gotten word of this weeks signing over at KidRobot. Who’s the featured artist? Junko Mizuno, releasing 2 anime-styled figures. Apparently these characters are being brought to life from a manga of hers, which I’ve never read. If you’re new to the scene or just want to go to a signing, I suggest maybe you start with this one. Check out their postcard:

Junko Mizuno Signing

If you go to KidRobot’s upcoming releases, you can check out both figures, but I shall tell the world now that I’m really not a fan of the Keiko the Director piece, I am however looking forward to the nurse [located in the postcard].

In other upcoming news, MAD is coming to NYC!! Woot! He’ll be here next Wednesday [Oct. 17th, 2007] also at the KidRobot store in celebration of his new Ninja Dunny. I don’t have money right now, but he knows I’m totally supportive of all his creations and have my place in line to meet him! I feel like a total groopie when it comes to both MAD and Sket, I heart their stuff plenty. Check out his postcard:

MAD Ninja Signing

This ninja is so kick ass! I can’t wait to get my very own. I will take my sketch book, which is slowly but surely becoming a collection of lots of talented artists. Stop by if you can, I’m hoping that I will hang out for a while [this signing is the night before a deadline at work, I'm worried they won't release me in time to hang].

Finally, this weekend Sneaker Pimps is coming to NYC. They’re going to be taking over the Roseland Ballroom and I am very pleased to announce that I will get to meet Mr. Tokidoki. Hooray for me! Also, I’ve seen pictures from this touring sneaker show and I have to say I am excited to see all the custom sneakers, and Nas [rap/hip-hop artist] will be performing there too! It seems October is becoming the best month so far! In case you don’t want to go to the show but still want to meet Mr. Tokidoki, he’s also going to be at Yoyamart on Saturday for FREE! I might stop by too… but I’ll post the info on that by Thursday.

Customs that kick ass!!

MadL and JLed Customs

I was browsing through blogs again, and I ran into these customs. I have no idea who designed them, but I am immensely impressed with the detailed work that the person did on both figures. The larger is Mad’s Mad*L figure and the smaller one is JLed’s Cutter. The reason why they caught my attention is because I love Mad and his figure and I had never seen something this intricate on the piece itself. And JLed’s has undergone a massive transformation! Hit the jump to see an additional image of the custom Cutter.

WIP

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I was sitting. I was sitting in that chair and I watched you. I don’t know how long I watched you for. I couldn’t stop looking. Your chest inhaling and exhaling hypnotized me. I sat there unable to sigh, but wanting to do so. I felt myself tear. I couldn’t bring myself to wipe them away. It seems my body was tired of hiding its pain. I tried so hard to keep everything bottled up, but I’ve grown tired of concealing myself. I don’t know when it happened, but I can’t see you anymore. You stand in front of me day in- day out, I can’t see you though. There was a man I fell in love with, I know I did. I felt my heart beat a new rhythm when I met you. You made me happy. I was different then. I was very different. I couldn’t wait to run to you, so you could embrace me. Our passion, we were like the people in the movies. Fists clenched, toes curled, we were beasts. What happened to us? When did you stop caring? When did I stop caring?

Last night though, I was sitting. I was sitting and I couldn’t move beyond that point. You asked me to go to bed, but my legs refused. My heart sank low, agreeing with the rest of my body. Going to bed was not an option. My body had gone on strike; it was tired of my forcing it to pretend like nothing was wrong. Do you not notice? Maybe you’ve chosen to ignore, but I can’t do this to myself anymore. I’m exhausted. I feel as though we’re crossing that fine line. I need you has turned into something ugly and these days you do nothing that shows you care. What road are we going through? I’m tired of asking God for help. I don’t think there’s any strength for another night of contemplating. The butterflies are dying and I want so bad to keep them alive. Help me. Spare me. I say goodnight to the world with a mouth full of frustrations I cannot share. Are you listening?

Pet Zombie!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

I was visiting fellow blogger ToysREvil’s blog today when I came across the wonderfully cute little monster, correction, zombie! The second I read the words pet zombie I couldn’t help but think of FIDO, the movie. I instantly proceeded to befriend Pet Zombie Productions on my flickr, go ahead world befriend them too, and had to comment on their adorable upcoming release. How far away is it, I’ve forgotten, but I wanted to help spread the word, check out the drawing and prototype:

Original Concept

Click either image to visit their flickr page, and I shall give you a heads-up with any other additional information I come across. Also, I should mention this now, those brains look so cool! I have yet to pick up my Zombie Monkey from KR, but it’s ok, I shall soon!
