Halo 3 Website

Monday, September 17th, 2007

I shall first disclose that this kick ass website was sent to me by my Mr. [Grim Santo]. Halo 3 is on the brink of being released, just a week away and already I’m spotting it all over the place. Some of my flickr buddies are part of the Microsoft team, therefore I’ve been seeing loads of images from Halo 3 release parties and such. Woo hoo! I really want to play, if only I could master the art of dual analog sticks. Damn it, I would be killing like a maniac. Anyway, the Mr. forwarded the following site to me: [Halo3.com/believe]

What is it? Well, I’m hoping you clicked the link and checked it out for yourself; but if you didn’t– the site is basically a model battleground of Halo 3. There is a camera panning through the scenery and you navigate with your arrow keys and have the option of stopping to capture a still shot. You can then save this shot on your desktop and turn it into your new wallpaper. I love it. I took this shot of the infamous Master Chief:

What do I like most about this site? I think its a very smart and simple advertising tactic. I must give loads of KUDOS to Microsoft for this. Though every single shot that is taken has technically been pre-selected already, I know this because when I downloaded the 3-4 shots that I loved they were titled “halo3_diorama_#…”; this is a very good way to make the audience feel as though they are creating something of their own. It’s a very good interactive site. I like it, plus[!] they’ve got some nice piano melody playing in the background. Don’t steal my shot… go the site and pick your own. Enjoy the experience Microsoft/Bungie has worked hard to bring you. Hit the jump for the new Halo 3 video if you haven’t already seen it.

Happy My People’s Day!!

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

I am the worst Mexican in the world. There is an hour and twenty-six minutes to the end of the day and it wasn’t until now that I remembered that today is my country’s Independence Day!! Woo hoo!! I’m sorry to my people for my horrible memory, but hopefully lots of you out there remembered and saw this as your excuse to go out there and get drunk!!!

Peace out until the next post…

Pick up that phone, Mario’s Calling

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Haven’t you thought to yourself… why can’t I have a Mario Bros. phone? No? Well, I hadn’t either until I ran into this phone:

This Mario Kart phone is totally kick ass. I must say though, Nintendo is not the maker of this phone, some other no-name company is; but it’s still a cool piece of video game paraphernalia. If you want to purchase one of these phones for a reasonable $59.99, click on the link. [Nintendo Mario Kart Phone]

Another Deathnote Release.

Friday, September 14th, 2007

So, recently the Good Smile Co. released these cute chibi Deathnote nendoroids:

And now, I read over at HypeBeast that Medicom is releasing the following fully pose-able Deathnote 12″ statues:

( image taken from HypeBeast, check their site for close-ups)

When I read about these figurines though, I thought about the Revoltech figurines. Thanks to my Mr. being totally hooked on owning all the things they’ve released. They have “joints” you couldn’t even imagine in plastic. Hopefully these are the same way. Hypebeast claims that any human pose is achievable with these toys, hopefully that will be the case. Apparently they’re still not out, but are available for pre-order. My problem lies in, the site that you can pre-order them from is not in English. I really hate when that happens. Anyway, if you want to check the site that has them for sale, here you go: ZoZoTown– let me know if you can translate it.

Oh Snaps!! It’s a Threadless Store!

Image has been stolen from Threadless email

I opened my email today to read news that Threadless© has now officially opened up their store in Chicago. YAY! If any peeps from Threadless are peeping my page now, esesaki says Congrats! Maybe you can send me a free t-shirt… you guys have my info. HAHAH! I’m kidding, sort of. Anyway… It is quite exciting to know they have a shop, their email provided the following information to why they’ve finally decided to go beyond the online universe:

Why a store? A zillion reasons. Most of them revolve around ideas we come up with for giving back to the Threadless community and not having the staff, resources, venue or time to make happen. Ideas like teaching design classes, hosting galleries with Threadless artist’s work, having real-world group critiques and other various events.

Another big reason has to do more with our product. We’ve been quite selective with which shops carry Threadless product and have even turned down some big-box retailers. Our reason for doing so is twofold. First, our product line changes every week and most retailers are not equipped to handle change that fast. Second, the story behind each of our products and who creates them, how they are created, scored and selected for print often gets lost in a traditional retail environment. Our tees lose some of their specialness and become just another tee on the shelf.

I was especially to read about their reasoning, though, did they really need a reason? Not in my book. Once again, congratulations for the store.

Snuggly Teddy keeps me warm.

So, I am quite excited to show the world the sweater located above. I am a sucker for teddy bear looking things, actually I’m a sucker for any hats, sweaters, gloves, etc., that imitate animals. So, of course, I was highly excited when I saw this sweater. It’s a teddy! How cute is that? I really want to get it, someday I might, but the only downer so far is that the sweater costs $160.00!!! OMG!! At the moment I started a new job at the BoE (Board of Education) and because of unorganized staff members, I can’t submit my paperwork to get on payroll until I get a doctor’s note about my positive TB reading from like a million years ago. Don’t worry people, I am not going around spreading the TB disease, but until this is sorted out, I am going to be on a ULTRA tight budget. BLAH! Bills, however, will wait for no doctor’s note and the whole situation is annoying. Anyway… I can’t get this sweater, but I hope that slightly before winter, I may just own one of these. Check them out here: [Creature Hoodie]

Apple Nation?

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

This shall be a short post posing the question: Have we become an Apple nation? What am I referring to? I need to know if the Apple fanboys of the world are so enthralled by Apple Inc. USA that products like the following are being made?

I’m sorry, but why is there something called, iDrink, on the market? I know that this bottle opener was NOT made by Apple, but damn it isn’t it ashamed that this was created in the first place? Do people think I’m blowing this way out of proportion? Let me know.

Smart Shower

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Oh snaps… So how many times have I started a post with: I am such a geek? Well, this would’ve almost started like that, but hah! I started with asking you something. [LOL] Yeah, now you’re thinking I’m a loser. Anyway, on with the post. While surfing, because these days that’s all I’m doing… I came across the perfect shower curtain. Sometimes, while I’m on the web, I find things that really make me wish I had an apartment of my own right now! This shower curtain was worthy of that reaction and its $30 price tag, check it out:

I don’t know what kind of person you are, but I’m one of those people who needs to read something all the time. I’m not always aware of this, but as of lately I am noticing the need to read. Anyway, instead of re-reading my Herbal Essences instructions or any other bath products, now I can gain some Period Table knowledge. I love it! If you want to get yourself one of these, click the following link: [Uncommon Goods]

Shoot ‘Em Up thoughts

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Rating: ★★★★★★★★★☆

Today, thanks to the lovely people over at Helio; Santos and I ended up getting hooked up with screening passes to Shoot ‘Em Up. I had recently saw the trailer, but once I arrived to the theater I realized that I knew nothing about this movie. So, maybe I was the perfect target audience to watch the movie, because I didn’t have any preconceived thoughts or opinions about the movie; now that I have seen it, this is what I thought…

**SPOILER ALERT**

The movie begins with Clive sort of hanging out on a bench, eating his carrot, unphased by the pregnant woman who happens to run by him– CRYING! He’s such an oddly monotone character and I must admit that I’ve alway wanted to see the human version of Bugs Bunny, who happens to be a great shoot. He aides some random woman when honchos are trying to kill her, he helps her give birth and somehow manages to shoot the umbilical cord to finish the delivery process. Needless to say, the woman ends up getting killed, so the rest of the movie he’s protecting this newborn child [Oliver] and trying to figure out who the hell is trying to kill him.

In order to feed the baby, he takes him to a brothel where Monica Bellucci’s character works. They help make men’s fantasies a reality, she handles the Freudian needs of men, though not explained in the beginning she’s lactating and he wants her to help protect the baby. She refuses and somehow the bad guys, led by Paul Giamatti’s character, end up finding her anyway. She has no information, but of course they’re hard-headed and don’t listen. It’s okay though, because Clive is always a hero in this movie. He shows up out of nowhere and kills off every bad guy in the movie. In some very unbelievable ways. The audience couldn’t help but laugh at a number of murder scenes. You may ask yourself, why?

How about, stabbing multiple people in the eye, chest and mouth with a carrot. YES, a CARROT! Somehow he has a whole stock of carrots throughout the movie, “it’s good for the eyes.” Also, how about shooting one guy multiple times in different parts of his body to make his reflexes shoot someone else? Or elaborate set-ups within a time span of 5 minutes that kill off about 30 extras. hahahaha. The movie was awesome you guys… I couldn’t decide if this was the best movie of the summer (since to me King of Kong and Live Free, Die Hard have that title), but so far I believe it’s the best movie of the fall.

I should’ve started this review earlier since I am not sleepy and feel as though I’m not telling you everything I should about the movie… I also spent some time searching for a movie review plugin (which I have now found). Since I try to watch a new movie per week, I thought the plugin was a necessity for this site. Thanks to [Channel-ai] for the plugin. I gave the movie 9 stars because it was simply that entertaining!

Choco-Chocolate Goodness

Current Mood:Silly emoticon Silly

Now this post comes from some responses I got on my flickr page. I posted the following shot last weekend:

Isn’t he a cutie? Anyway, that is his character on the chocolate bar. Actually, if I recall correctly both Minty and Choco started their careers as chocolate bar characters and then graduated to vinyl form. Someone out there in the world, please feel free to correct me if this isn’t the case. Some people on flickr wanted to know where and when I got the chocolate bar. I happened to go see King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters last week at the IFC Center [great film, highly recommend it] and I really wanted some freshly popped popcorn. As I proceeded to pay, I looked down at the counter and was instantly drawn to crIsp, Sun-Min Kim’s chocolate bar which features Spider Boom; I knew I had to purchase at least one. I wasn’t prepared for the $4 a piece price tag, so I only got one; that is until I showed my Mr. and then I bought the Choco + Minty bar and the Rolitoland bar. I ate them, well crIsp and Choco+Minty. I know not everyone lives in NYC, so I looked them up. You can purchase these yummy chocolate bars over at [Chocolate Bar NYC]. The artist series, as in the boxset that contains these chocolates wrapped by some of our favorite vinyl artists, will cost you $29.50. I know it might seem a bit pricey, to some of you, but believe me when I say they really are that good.
